CAD Drafter / Documentation Change Specialist

Pay Rate: Up to $41/hour or about $85,000 year

Location: State College, PA 16801

Shift: Day Shift - 8 hours Monday through Friday

Openings: 2

Employment Type: Year Long Contract with opportunity to extend

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Drafter / Documentation Change Specialist to support engineering documentation, drafting, and controlled change activities within a manufacturing environment.

This position will primarily utilize AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create and update mechanical and electromechanical drawings, translate redlined drawings into finalized documentation, and support documentation changes related to company branding initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong drafting skills, experience working within a document-controlled manufacturing environment, and a solid understanding of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Bills of Material (BOMs), drawings, and configuration management.

Key Responsibilities



  • Utilize AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create, revise, and maintain mechanical and electromechanical drawings.
  • Translate redlined engineering drawings into accurate, finalized controlled documents.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments to support the creation, review, approval, and timely release of controlled changes.
  • Update engineering documentation and initiate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Partner with Production Engineering to incorporate engineering changes and update documentation based on redlines.
  • Create and update models, assemblies, drawings, and part configurations in SolidWorks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with established document control and configuration management procedures.
  • Review and interpret drawings, specification sheets, Bills of Material, ECNs, and other technical documentation.
  • Support drafting and documentation needs associated with company branding and other engineering projects.
  • Manage multiple documentation and drafting priorities while meeting departmental deadlines.



Qualifications

Education



  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering-related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience working with controlled technical data is a plus.



Experience



  • 3-5 years of documentation change management experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience using AutoCAD and SolidWorks for modeling and drafting.
  • Experience creating and modifying mechanical and/or electromechanical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of documentation control, Bills of Material (BOMs), engineering drawings, ECNs, and configuration management.
  • Experience with an ERP system, such as Visual Manufacturing, preferred.
  • Experience with a PLM system, such as Omnify or Agile, preferred.
  • Experience with EPDM/PDM systems is preferred.



Skills & Competencies



  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and part configurations.
  • Ability to understand and process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Ability to create, edit, and maintain technical documents and interpret specification sheets.
  • Strong computer and technical documentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive and collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, and other functional teams.



Physical Requirements



  • Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk throughout an 8-hour workday.
