Position Summary

The Arts &
Sciences Interdisciplinary Science Cooperative (ISC) was established in 2019 in
the state-of-the-art Physics & Astronomy Interdisciplinary Science (PAIS)
facility to foster interdisciplinary collaboration across the University and
beyond and strengthen research and educational outcomes.

The ISC
supports seven Centers and Core Laboratories engaged in interdisciplinary
research at UNM and beyond. ISC operations provide administrative, financial,
research, facility, and project support to help faculty, staff, and students
succeed in a collaborative research environment.

This position
provides an opportunity for a student to develop practical workplace skills in
administration, communication, financial processes, technology, and project
coordination while gaining professional experience in a collaborative
university research environment.

Under direct
supervision, the Student Operations Assistant provides administrative and
operational support to the ISC and its affiliated Centers and Core
Laboratories. This is a 20-hour-per-week work-study position. Applicants must
submit proof of their current work-study award with their application.

  • The Student
    Operations Assistant will assist the Senior Operations Manager and Operations
    Specialist with duties that may include:
  • Perform general office duties, including sorting mail, shipping and receiving, copying, scanning, filing, and greeting and directing visitors.
  • Perform data entry, review administrative records for accuracy, and assist with generating routine and ad hoc reports from University systems and databases.
  • Assist with processing per diem, mileage, and other routine reimbursements using UNM Chrome River.
  • Maintain inventories of office supplies, materials, and equipment and assist with established equipment check-out procedures.
  • Assist with facility-related service requests and coordination of routine IT support requests.
  • Assist with ISC meeting room reservations, calendars, and preparation of meeting and event spaces.
  • Assist with preparation and distribution of the ISC Communique and other routine communications.
  • Perform routine on-campus errands as needed in support of ISC operations.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current eligibility for a UNM Work-Study award.
  • Excellent customer service and verbal and written communication skills with a professional and helpful attitude.
  • Experience using electronic calendars, email, and scheduling systems.
  • Experience with office and communication software, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe applications, and willingness to learn new systems.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, follow established procedures, and work independently with appropriate supervision.
  • Ability to perform occasional light lifting associated with office supplies, packages, equipment, and meeting or event setup.

TIME
COMMITMENT:
20 hours per week, agreed schedule determined by student's
class schedule and their available time to work Monday through Friday.
