Job Description

This is an outpatient position within the UCSF Health Stanyan Hospital Rehabilitation Services department.

The Per Diem Physical Therapist (Physical Therapist 1 PD) reports to the Clinical Supervisor and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The Per Diem Physical Therapist works primarily with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The Per Diem Physical Therapist with specific pediatric competencies and clinical experience may also work with infants, children and/or adolescents.

Under general direction and upon receipt of licensed approved provider written referrals, the Per Diem Physical Therapist plans and administers a full range of physical therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and disabilities. Services include patient evaluations using physical therapy tests and measurements, the establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and the development of therapeutic intervention programs, and the implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing physical therapy interventions, modalities, and procedures. The Per Diem Physical Therapist demonstrates practice competence managing patients of varying clinical acuity and complexity. The Per Diem Physical Therapist may seek mentoring for novel clinical presentations or areas of specialty practice for which the Per Diem Physical Therapist is not experienced or certified.

The Per Diem Physical Therapist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services. While performing job duties, the Per Diem P.T. may also supervise support personnel including Physical Therapist Assistants and Rehabilitation Aides. As a member of the clinical care team, the Per Diem Physical Therapist also participates in compliance, quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives in the department and the hospital.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - DPT doctoral graduate degree - If graduated 15 or more years ago, a bachelor's degree - Minimum one year of licensed practice experience - Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing - Ability to recognize signs of distress - Basic computer skills, including work within the Epic electronic medical record - Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and self-initiation skills - Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Prior clinical experience in outpatient orthopedic clinical patient care settings, including sports medicine experience - Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS - Possession of, or proven eligibility for, licensure as a Physical Therapist by the Physical Therapy Board of California - Possession of, or proven eligibility for, AHA BLS certification
