Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY
Performs as a working lead and support for the staff. Assists staff in scheduling, pre-registration, deposit calculations, self-pay pricing and insurance verification. Serves as subject matter expert with current systems and processes within the department and interdepartmentally; with insurance benefits and authorization requirements; with self-pay and charity accounts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Serves as a resource for fellow employees and outside departments in regards to appointment scheduling, registration and insurance verification matters. Provides coordination and information to all disciplines and departments to ensure efficient and effective hospital department workflow.
  • Assists in supervision of all Pre-Services staff. Provides feedback to Supervisor on staff performance for evaluation purposes. Participates in monthly one-on-one meetings with staff to provide productivity measurements and feedback.
  • Maintains all departmental and network policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure optimal execution of departmental tasks and achievement of goals. Assists in the development of new procedures and processes. Develops new policies and procedures as required. Participates in process improvement activities and implements process changes as directed by Supervisor. Supports Supervisor in other activities, as needed.
  • Performs pre- registrations, scheduling, pricing, and other system required tasks to remain knowledgeable and proficient in all applicable systems. Performs at a super user level in systems.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for HIPAA, Federal regulations, state regulations, health system policies, departmental policies and reimbursement criteria. Attends/assists in leading departmental meetings and huddles in order to enhance communications within and between departments. Attends payer in-services as assigned in order to remain current on payer requirements. Performs downtime duties as necessary.
EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Other / Certificate in related healthcare field. Preferred
EXPERIENCE
  • 2 years registration/financial counseling/patient account collections or equivalent with an emphasis on customer service Required
  • 3 years healthcare scheduling or hospital registration experience or patient financial counseling or Medical Assistant experience Preferred
  • 3 years minimium experience required Preferred
