Your Job As a Forward Deployed Engineer on Georgia-Pacific PRO's KOLO product, you will own areas of a connected-hardware platform in production and work directly with the business and customers who use it. KOLO provides real-time dispenser-status visibility for teams maintaining commercial facilities, helping them identify service needs before they become problems. You will work across the web application, mobile applications, public API, connected devices, and supporting cloud infrastructure. The role offers broad ownership, short decision paths, and direct influence over a live product, with the scale and support of Georgia-Pacific IT behind the team. This role is based at our HQ in Atlanta, GA. The expectation is three (3) days in office per week. Our Team KOLO is built and operated by a small engineering team embedded directly in the business and supported by Georgia-Pacific infrastructure, security, and technology support organizations. Engineers own product areas rather than isolated tasks and work across software, data, cloud infrastructure, and connected devices to improve customer outcomes. AI-assisted development is a standard part of the team's workflow. Engineers establish the quality, security, testing, and review guardrails that allow the team and approved non-engineering contributors to deliver production changes responsibly. What You Will Do Own areas of the KOLO platform end to end, including user experiences, backend services, data flows, integrations, and supporting cloud infrastructureDeliver, operate, and continuously improve production software that customers and field teams rely on in active commercial facilitiesApply AI-assisted engineering throughout the software lifecycle while maintaining quality, security, testing, and human-review standards for generated codeWork across the connected-device environment to trace and resolve issues spanning applications, APIs, device-generated data, integrations, and AWS infrastructureImprove the team's delivery capability by creating reusable patterns, development tooling, documentation, tests, and guardrails that make contributions safer and easier to maintainReview code through pull requests, support release readiness, and help ensure changes are secure, observable, reliable, and appropriate for continuously operating hardware and softwareTroubleshoot production issues, perform corrective maintenance, and balance platform health with the delivery of new capabilities and customer value Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Experience building and supporting production software used by external customers or field usersExperience working across user interfaces, backend services, and data layers within a full-stack engineering roleExperience deploying and operating applications in AWSExperience using AI-assisted development tools to deliver production code and evaluating generated output for quality, security, and maintainabilityExperience reviewing code through a pull-request workflow and using SQL to query or analyze data, including datasets created by othersMust have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship What Will Put You Ahead Experience becoming productive in an unfamiliar technology stack while supporting an active product or production environmentExperience serving as the first or sole engineer for a product, or assuming ownership of a system with limited documentationExperience creating engineering practices, tools, or reusable patterns that continued after your direct involvementExperience building guardrails, workflows, or training that enabled non-engineers to contribute technical work safelyExperience with connected products, Internet of Things platforms, or systems that process device-generated dataExperience migrating an application or data platform away from end-of-life technologyExperience and depth in distributed systems, data modeling, security, performance engineering, developer tooling, or organizational adoption of AI At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
