The Vice President, Corporate Tax is responsible for leading Alight's global tax function, including tax accounting, income tax compliance, transfer pricing, tax risk management, and strategic tax initiatives. This role ensures the company's tax obligations are met accurately and timely while maintaining strong internal controls and supporting the organization's financial reporting requirements.Additionally, this role serves as the primary tax advisor to senior finance leadership and business partners, providing practical, business-oriented guidance on complex tax matters. The role requires deep expertise in U.S. federal income taxation, partnership taxation, ASC 740 tax accounting, and transfer pricing, along with the ability to lead a high-performing team in a dynamic public company environment.

Tax Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Lead all aspects of global income tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740.
  • Oversee preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions, tax-related SEC disclosures, effective tax rate analysis, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure appropriate accounting and reporting for uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, deferred tax assets and liabilities, and tax law changes.
  • Partner closely with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Treasury, and Internal Audit teams to ensure accurate financial statement reporting.
  • Maintain and enhance tax-related internal controls and SOX compliance processes.

Tax Compliance

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of U.S. federal, state, local, and international income tax returns.
  • Manage relationships with external service providers supporting compliance Monitor tax filing obligations and ensure timely and accurate compliance across all jurisdictions.
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and efficiencies within the tax compliance function.
  • Establish and maintain documentation standards supporting tax return positions and reporting obligations.

Transfer Pricing

  • Lead the development, implementation, and governance of global transfer pricing policies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. and international transfer pricing requirements.
  • Oversee preparation of transfer pricing documentation and support for tax audits.
  • Partner with business and finance leaders to evaluate business changes and their transfer pricing implications.
  • Monitor developments in global tax regulations, including OECD initiatives and related guidance.

Tax Planning & Special Projects

  • Support strategic business initiatives by evaluating tax implications and recommending practical solutions.
  • Provide tax leadership for corporate transactions, legal entity restructurings, financing activities, and business reorganizations.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, HR, and external advisors on complex tax matters.
  • Assess the impact of legislative and regulatory developments and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Lead tax due diligence and integration efforts associated with acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic transactions as needed.

Tax Risk Management & Controversy

  • Manage federal, state, local, and international tax audits and examinations.
  • Develop and execute strategies for resolving tax controversies and minimizing tax risk.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external advisors and taxing authorities where appropriate.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks across the organization.

Leadership

  • Lead and develop the corporate tax team while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Manage and develop people and teams across global locations, ensuring alignment, engagement, and effective collaboration across regions.
  • Build effective partnerships across Finance, Legal, Treasury, Human Resources, and business leadership.
  • Communicate complex tax matters effectively to executive leadership, auditors, and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on tax-related matters affecting the company.

Knowledge, Education, Certification, Skills & Technical Proficiencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field required.
  • CPA, JD, or Master's in Taxation strongly preferred.
  • Advanced tax certification or specialized tax education is desirable.

Work Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience, including a combination of public accounting, law firm, and/or multinational corporate tax experience.
  • Significant experience leading tax accounting and compliance functions within a large, complex organization.
  • Deep expertise in U.S. federal income taxation and ASC 740 tax accounting.
  • Proven experience with partnership taxation and partnership structures.
  • Experience overseeing global transfer pricing programs.
  • Experience managing external advisors, audits, and tax controversies.
  • Prior experience in a public company environment
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, restructurings, and strategic business initiatives preferred.

Salary Pay Range

Minimum :

270,000.00 USD

Maximum :

290,000.00 USD
