The Fox Theatre is located at 660 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30308. The Fox Theatre in Atlanta seeks a motivated, well-qualified candidate with experience as Sous Chef. The Fox Theatre is seeking an experienced and creative Sous Chef to help lead our culinary operations and deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests. This position supports food preparation and service for the Marquee Club, specialty concessions, private events, meetings, and in-house catering. Working closely with the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef assists with menu development, ingredient sourcing, food preparation, cooking, plating, and service execution. This individual helps ensure that food is prepared and delivered efficiently while consistently meeting the Fox Theatre's standards for quality, presentation, hospitality, and guest satisfaction. In the Executive Chef's absence, the Sous Chef serves as the primary culinary leader and assumes responsibility for kitchen operations, staff leadership, quality control, and food safety. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and dependable leader who can maintain high standards in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Assist the Executive Chef with the planning, coordination, and execution of culinary operations. Support food service for the Marquee Club, specialty concessions, private events, meetings, and in-house catering. Participate in menu research, development, and execution, including seasonal and event-specific offerings. Assist with ingredient sourcing and the selection of products that meet quality and cost expectations. Oversee food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality. Help ensure that meals are prepared and served promptly and meet guest expectations. Lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef. Supervise, train, mentor, and support culinary team members. Promote teamwork, open communication, accountability, and a positive working environment. Coordinate with front-of-house employees and other departments to support seamless event execution. Maintain an organized, sanitary, and safe kitchen environment. Ensure compliance with applicable health department requirements, food-safety standards, and HACCP guidelines. Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and help control food and labor costs. Minimize waste through proper forecasting, storage, preparation, and portion control. Address operational challenges promptly while maintaining service and culinary standards. Stay informed about culinary trends, techniques, technologies, and professional development opportunities. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Current ServSafe Manager Certification or equivalent food-safety and sanitation certification. At least two years of experience as a Sous Chef, or at least three years of experience as a Lead Line Cook. Demonstrated culinary leadership experience in a private club, fine-dining restaurant, catering operation, or similar environment. Experience leading, training, and managing a kitchen team. Knowledge of local health department requirements and safe food-handling practices. Demonstrated skill in cooking techniques, food production, plating, and presentation. Experience with both savory and sweet food preparation. Ability to support large-scale events and high-end dining operations. Ability to prioritize responsibilities, maintain kitchen organization, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience managing food inventory, ordering supplies, controlling costs, and reducing waste. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with culinary employees, management, event teams, and other departments. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Experience using point-of-sale systems to support orders, inventory, or event requirements. Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts based on business and event needs. Preferred Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related field. Graduation from a recognized culinary school. Five or more years of experience in a high-end private club, fine-dining restaurant, luxury catering operation, or similar culinary environment. Experience working in a theatre, entertainment venue, or hospitality operation with high-volume concessions and private events. Experience developing innovative and seasonal menus. Experience executing large-scale catering events. Experience working with suppliers and managing food and labor costs. Knowledge of current culinary trends and modern cooking techniques. Experience collaborating with event planners and cross-functional departments. Demonstrated commitment to continued culinary, technical, and leadership development. Physical and Scheduling Requirements Ability to work extended shifts of 10 hours or more when business needs require. Ability to work a flexible schedule and different shifts based on operational and event requirements. Ability to meet the physical demands associated with a fast-paced professional kitchen environment. Job description indicates that this position may require working 60 or more hours per week.
