Job Summary
Position Description
The Department of Psychology in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences ( BBS) at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) is accepting applications for a tenure system faculty position in Psychology. The search is focused on finding an excellent candidate with research interests related to Brain Health. This candidate will also have leadership experience and/or expertise to serve as the inaugural head of the Brain Health BS program. BBS is actively working toward approval of this new Bachelor of Science in Brain Health that will be housed in the Department of Psychology but will cut across all departments in BBS and with strong partnerships across multiple schools on campus. This new degree program will serve as a gateway for creation of a new arm in our workforce with strong support from the DFW corporate and industry community. The Center for BrainHealth is a recognized world leader in the study of Brain Health and for 25 years has led the DFW community in creating recognition for the importance of brain health and states of disease in everyday life. Candidates at Associate or Full Professor levels with funded research programs will be considered. Teaching responsibilities will contribute to the department's undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs in Psychology and the new BS in Brain Health. Teaching responsibilities also include mentoring of doctoral, masters, and undergraduate students.
The appointment commences for the fall 2027 semester.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: A PhD or equivalent in Psychology, Cognition and Neuroscience, or a related discipline is required and a track record of obtaining and maintaining extramural research funding that is commensurate with appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high-quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
Preferred Education and Experience: demonstration of leadership experience.

The Department of Psychology is one of three departments within the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences. The department houses 48 faculty and has almost 1,500 students. It is home to a large number of multi-grant funded faculty members. The department has a distinguished legacy of world class research across cognitive neuroscience and developmental science. It also houses multiple pioneering AI-engaged faculty innovating in the fields of cognitive science and human-computer interface research. The Department has a rich history of housing well-known research Centers that lead their respective fields around the globe.
The Department of Psychology is home to the Bachelor of Science in Psychology, BS in Cognitive Science, and BS in Child Learning and Development. It is also home to the MS in Psychology, the MS in Human Development and Childhood Disorders, and the PhD in Psychology. It also shares degree programs with the Department of Neuroscience for the MS in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience and the PhD in Cognition and Neuroscience. The BS in Psychology represents the 7th most popular undergraduate major at UT Dallas. As of fall 2026, the department enrolled its first cohort of Clinical Psychological Science PhD students along with the opening of our Psychological Sciences and Education Center in summer 2026.
Additional opportunities for vibrant interdisciplinary collaborations are available with UT Dallas Centers including the Center for Vital Longevity, the Center for Children and Families, the Texas Biomedical Device Center, the Center for Advanced Pain Studies, and the Psychological Services and Education Center. BBS faculty also have vigorous collaborations with the UT Dallas Bioengineering and Electrical Engineering programs, the UT Southwestern Medical Center, and Baylor University Medical Center.
The UT Dallas Clinical and Translational Research Center, led and directed under BBS, provides comprehensive support for clinical research including regulatory support, administrative staffing, and access to core facilities. Clinical and translational research programs are additionally facilitated by the UT Dallas Sammons BrainHealth Imaging Center.
