POSITION SUMMARY:

This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and provides leadership across global accounting, financial reporting, audit, debt compliance, insurance and treasury functions. The position works closely with the CFO and the Vice President of Financial Operations to provide necessary financial data and analysis that enable informed decision making that aligns with the company's strategic objectives and growth initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Partners with the CFO and Vice President of Financial Operations to support financial and operational execution and scalable transaction processing.

* Functions as trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team and key stakeholders to drive operational change, profitable growth and informed strategic decision making.

* Provides strategic leadership and guidance to functions reporting to the position including general ledger accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit & collections and global payroll while standardizing and improving related systems and processes.

* Ensures strong internal controls, compliance, audit readiness and risk management.

* Directs preparation of financial statements and manages annual financial, statutory and insurance audits.

* Oversees and maintains documentation of finance/accounting controls and policies and procedures.

* Monitors debt covenant compliance and manages liabilities including leases and other contractual commitments.

* Oversees cash management and property and casualty insurance programs for Meso Scale Diagnostics and affiliated companies.

* Partners with the CFO to manage banking, credit and external audit relationships and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders.

* Establishes and executes policies, procedures, tools and systems to monitor and report financial performance.

* Leads and mentors a high performing team, directing finance functions to align resources with organizational priorities as well as reinforcing a culture of data-driven decision making and cross-functional collaboration.

* Evaluates, coaches, and develops staff, ensuring team goals align with overall corporate objectives.

* Ensures the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of all financial preparation and information.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field required.

o Master's Degree or MBA preferred.

* Minimum of fifteen years of senior finance management experience with responsibility for accounting, financial reporting and insurance.

* CPA preferred.

* Minimum of five years of experience building and supervising highly productive accounting teams.

* Experience and proficiency with financial management systems/software.

* Experience working in a manufacturing or life sciences related organization strongly preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Expert knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting and internal controls.

* Superior leadership skills with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of staff management practices and processes and the ability to establish accountabilities and expectations and manage performance to achieve results.

* Results- oriented work ethic with ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a complex environment.

* Ability to work collaboratively across functional areas focusing on results that support organizational objectives.

* Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner.

* A professional presence and strong interpersonal skills for interacting in a courteous, timely, and diplomatic manner with all levels of employees as well as other parties/stakeholders involved with the organization.

* Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues of varying complexity, while meeting time-sensitive deadlines and deliverables.

* Keen understanding of business risks and opportunities and ability to maintain business focus in delivering objectives.

* Technical proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

* This position is performed in a traditional office environment.

COMPENSATION SUMMARY:

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $252,100 to $403,450. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
