Job Description

We are looking for a Printed Circuit Board Design Engineer to support complex electronic product development. You will report to the PCB Design Team Lead in Rockwell's Software & Control business and will work a hybrid schedule at our office in Mayfield Heights OH or Milwaukee WI.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Develop PCB layouts for complex multilayer designs from component placement through final release.
  • Implement HDI design techniques, including blind, buried, and stacked vias, while balancing electrical performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
  • Collaborate with international hardware, mechanical, manufacturing, and supplier teams to ensure successful PCB fabrication and assembly.
  • Create PCB fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, design outputs, release packages, and other required product documentation.
  • Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews with and implement recommended improvements.
  • Perform design rule checks (DRC), layout reviews, and documentation reviews to ensure compliance with project requirements and company standards.
  • Support prototype builds, production releases, and root cause investigations related to PCB design and manufacturing.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Requires occasional local travel.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Bachelor's in electrical engineering
  • Typically requires a minimum of two years of related experience.
  • 5+ years of PCB layout experience
  • Working knowledge of Siemens Xpedition PCB Design Suite, including schematic-driven layout, constraint management, design rule checking, and manufacturing output generation.
  • Familiarity with signal integrity, power integrity, and controlled impedance design best practices.
  • Experience with fine-pitch BGA breakout strategies, multilayer stackups, and high-density routing.
  • Working knowledge of PCB fabrication processes, assembly requirements, panelization, manufacturing constraints, and DFM principles.
  • Experience with PCB materials, layer constructions, drill structures, via technologies, and manufacturing tolerances.
  • Knowledge of IPC design standards and PCB manufacturing specifications.
  • Experience supporting industrial, automotive, aerospace, medical, or other high-reliability electronic products.
  • Experience with other enterprise PCB design tools such as Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro is also beneficial.
