Position Overview
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The Coordinator of Orientation and Transition Programs supports the planning, coordination, implementation, and assessment of programs that assist new students and their families in successfully transitioning to North Carolina A&T State University. The position coordinates key operational and programmatic components of new student orientation, transition programming, student-leader recruitment and development, family engagement, and related first-year initiatives.
The Coordinator assists with orientation registration and communications, program logistics, student-leader training, campus partner coordination, and data collection. The position works collaboratively with the Director of Orientation and New Student Programs, departmental staff, student leaders, and university partners to deliver organized, engaging, and student-centered transition experiences. |
| Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The Office of New Student Programs is housed in the Division of Enrollment Management. New Student Programs strives to help new students make their transition to the university by familiarizing them with the campus and its resources, assisting in the development of skills necessary to make the adjustment to campus life and the Aggie community, increasing their confidence in their abilities to succeed, and instilling a positive outlook on their future as a student. In addition, New Student Programs works with parents (and families) to foster an environment of community support for students.

| Minimum Requirements |
Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of professional experience in orientation, student activities, student leadership, enrollment management, student success, higher education administration, event coordination, or a related area; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. |

Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, public administration, or a related discipline.
Experience coordinating new student orientation, transition, retention, or first-year programs.
Experience recruiting, training, advising, or supervising student leaders.
Experience coordinating large-scale programs or events.
Experience using student information, registration, communication, or customer relationship management systems.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops and speak before large and unique audiences.
Strong organizational, communication, customer-service, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience collaborating with university departments and external partners. |
