Summary

The Strategic Partnerships, Workforce & Community Impact Manager leads strategic community engagement initiatives through the Strategic Partnerships, Workforce & Community Impact (SPW&CI) committee, which includes Safety, HR, Operations, and Marketing. The role builds and strengthens relationships with clients, project teams, community stakeholders, public agencies, trade partners, educational institutions, labor organizations, and local businesses.

This role is responsible for developing and implementing programs through the internal Strategic Partnerships, Workforce & Community Impact (SPW&CI) committee that achieve each client's social and economic impact goals. The ideal candidate is a relationship-driven professional with the ability to collaborate across internal teams and external partners to amplify community impact, drive inclusive participation, support workforce development initiatives, and enhance the organization's reputation within the communities it serves.

This position focuses on multiple aspects of construction community outreach and engagement. The manager plays a key role in supporting both client and company initiatives while ensuring outcomes align with the organization's core values of honesty, safety, unity, and quality.

Additionally, this role serves as a bridge between major construction projects and the surrounding community by fostering engagement related to workforce development, health and wellness initiatives, local supplier and trade partner participation, and broader community impact strategies.

Duties

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
  • Responsible for leading the internal Strategic Partnerships, Workforce & Community Impact (SPW&CI) committee.
  • Ensures that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
  • Partners with internal and cross-functional teams drive measurable social impact and supports strategic business objectives.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, government officials, community leaders, city councils, trade associations, educational institutions, labor organizations, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Collaborates with economic development organizations and community partners to ensure initiatives are aligned with community needs while accelerating business and project goals.
  • Fosters strong community engagement strategies that support workforce development, local business participation, and long-term community impact.
  • Oversees and coordinates community meetings, outreach initiatives, and engagement activities with the committee members.
  • Serves as primary liaison among internal teams, contractors, community stakeholders, and external organizations.

Program Management

  • Develops and implement market specific framework for construction community engagement programs working alongside the committee members.
  • Leads initiatives related to economic and community development, workforce engagement, and public affairs working alongside the committee members.
  • Collaborates with schools, colleges, and nonprofit organizations to establish talent pathways in construction building local talent to foster economic opportunities working alongside the committee members.
  • Coordinates volunteerism, philanthropy, and community partnership activities working alongside the committee members.
  • Develops communication tools and processes to educate local communities about local opportunities, community development, success stories, and local community economic impact.
  • Manages outreach programs that support local participation and community awareness.
  • Collaborates with team leaders and peers to develop strategies and partnerships to produce specific development needs based on local feedback to implement actionable insights to prioritize community needs.
  • Monitors and tracks performance metrics to ensure program goals are met.

Economic & Social Impact Initiatives

  • Prepares and presents executive reports on program progress and impact.
  • Manages the day-to-day execution of programmatic community development plans, working cross-functionally to drive community impact through philanthropy, volunteerism, contributions/charitable giving, community partnerships, health and wellness, awareness, and economic impact metrics working alongside the committee members.
  • Collects and organizes project success stories, photos, videos, and testimonials to support communications efforts and attends monthly client meetings to report local impact.
  • Manages reporting requirements for community engagement and project impact.
  • Displays ability to mentor and conduct training to help grow trade partners through the Layton Trade Partner Engagement Program.
  • Collaborates during preconstruction to help identify specific work disciplines that can be awarded to include trade partners.
  • Acts as a liaison for suppliers and trade partners to help reduce barriers by hosting workshops, exhibiting outreach events, and collaborating with trade organizations.

Internal Collaboration

  • Promotes and communicates the construction community engagement program awareness at jobsite and throughout the local community working alongside the committee members.
  • Actively supports project meetings as a resource and meets with project team members to share information and help address community engagement and trade partner compliance-related questions and concerns.
  • Facilitates community involvement with strategic partner organizations and holds board and committee positions.
  • Leads local project teams with community engagement planning and execution working alongside the committee members.
  • Collaborates with marketing and public relations teams to align messaging and outreach efforts.
  • Provides guidance and support to project teams on stakeholder engagement best practices.
  • Collaborates with internal teams and external partners to drive sustainable growth for qualified trade partners that satisfy client requirements.

External Communication

  • Tracks local community impact reporting.
  • Develops materials and presentations highlighting community impact and engagement efforts working alongside the committee members.
  • Manages internal and external communications related to community initiatives.
  • Leads efforts with preconstruction, operations, and local organizations to develop strategies for local activities and participation on the project site for engagement and achievable outcomes.

Education

  • Has a BA/BS degree in business management, marketing or public relations, construction management, human resources, procurement, or related field of study or equivalent practical experience.
  • Has 5+ combined years of experience in community engagement, philanthropy, public affairs, economic development, community outreach, compliance, client relations, or relates field.

Qualifications

  • Ability to report full-time on the project jobsite.
  • Problem solver with the ability to identify alternative solutions to a problem and select the best options.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with a cross-functional internal committee representing multiple strategic business units to achieve construction community engagement goals.
  • Experience working within construction, infrastructure, real estate development, engineering, or related industries preferred.
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrates competencies to be an effective presenter and public speaker to both internal and external constituencies.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities concurrently.
  • Experience tracking metrics, reporting outcomes, and measuring program impact.
