Job Summary Provides specialized ophthalmic testing and patient care to support the diagnosis and prognosis of hereditary retinal degenerations. Performs a variety of clinical assessments and advanced diagnostic tests while maintaining a safe, organized, and well-equipped patient care environment.Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Performs comprehensive patient screening, including documentation of chief complaint, ocular, family and medical history, pain assessment, medications, allergies, and visual acuity. -Performs routine ophthalmic assessments, including subjective refraction, lensometry, tonometry, confrontational visual fields, pupil evaluation, and extraocular muscle assessment. -Administers diagnostic eye drops and medications in accordance with established protocols. -Performs specialized ophthalmic testing, including dark adaptation, color vision, electroretinography (ERG), electrooculography (EOG), and visual field testing. -Applies knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to support patient assessment and diagnostic testing. -Maintains adequate medical and ophthalmic supplies in exam and testing rooms. -Cleans and maintains instruments, equipment, exam rooms, and testing areas in accordance with infection prevention and control standards.
