IT Solution Engineer Oakland, CA-Hybrid (1 day in a week onsite) 9 months+ Contract *****Local candidates only** Travel: would be within one business day and can be up to 3 hours each way Onsite on an as needed basis. Looking for local candidates, please be sure to include your candidate's location at the top of the resume Job Responsibilities: Assists other Engineers in creating comprehensive technology platform solution designs that meet business solution requirements on IT projects. Applies knowledge of IT standards, service offerings and operational options to assist in developing an implementation approach of technology solution alternatives. Assist in ensuring that the physical design and configuration of the delivered solutions are in direct alignment with the logical design. Assists in promoting the development and reuse of common solutions, components and services. Collaborate with other domain specific (application, infrastructure, or information) Engineers, Architects, Product Specialists, System Design Engineers and technologists to complete IT deliverables. Work with other engineers, architects and product specialists to ensure that the products and components work together to meet the objectives and performance goals as defined in the requirements. Assists with buy vs. build decisions, business requirements impact analysis, refinement of early-phase project estimates which contribute to the business case, and implementation level design. Provides support function for Solution Engineering design decisions during plan, analyze, design, build, test, and deploy phases of IT projects Education Minimum: Associates degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related degree or equivalent experience Education Desired: Bachelors degree License/Certification Desired: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification; Other job related certification Experience Desired: IT engineering design and/or technical project implementation experience Project Management IT experience Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and (Technical) Competencies:** Ability to quickly learn and understand a core business area of a utility, of how technology plays a key enabler/support role. Ability to quickly learn process design, information modeling or system architecture within a core business area of a utility. Ability to quickly develop an understanding of the Solution Engineering discipline, processes, concepts and best practices. Exposure to a process improvement discipline (i.e., Six Sigma) used within a technology supported business process implementation.
