About the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology The School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (EAS) is highly interdisciplinary and covers broadly all fields of Earth, atmospheric, and space science. EAS hosts a range of undergraduate degrees, including B.S. programs in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (AOS), Solid Earth and Planetary Sciences (SEP), and Environmental Science (ENVS), and hosts a Ph.D. program in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences as well as a distinct interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Ocean Science and Engineering in collaboration with the Schools of Biological Sciences and Civil and Environmental Engineering. The School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (https://eas.gatech.edu) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in atmospheric chemistry. We seek candidates who will develop an innovative research program that advances understanding of chemical processes in the atmosphere and their connections to air quality, climate, ecosystems, or human health. Relevant areas may include, but are not limited to, atmospheric measurements and instrumentation; laboratory and field studies; aerosol and gas-phase chemistry; emerging pollutants; atmospheric exposure and health; and climate intervention science. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research emphasizes experimental, measurement-based, or observational approaches. Complementary expertise in atmospheric modeling, prediction, data science, or machine learning is also welcome. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students. The successful candidate will: Establish and sustain an independent, externally funded research program Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in atmospheric chemistry and related areas Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students Contribute service to the School, College, Institute, and profession And participate in interdisciplinary collaborations across Georgia Tech. Earned doctorate in atmospheric science, chemistry, environmental science, engineering, or a related field A record of scholarly achievement and research potential commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor, as well as the ability to teach and mentor a multifaceted student body Clear evidence of effective teaching Clear evidence of creativity Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of the ability to establish a high-impact, externally funded research program Develop effective classroom, laboratory, field, or data-centered learning experiences Collaborate across disciplines; and contribute to the School's strengths in atmospheric chemistry and environmental science.
