Job Summary

The Program Manager works with many levels of leadership and staff to manage program efforts based on industry best practices; works as the single point of contact for facilitation and communication of program goals, deliverables, and schedules, and must be an excellent communicator; various levels of documentation will be produced at each stage of the program and the program manager is often the person who creates these with input from others.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Facilitate the creation of program definitions, work breakdowns, rough order estimates, program plans, communication plans, and program schedules and specifications

Job Duty 2 -
Research solutions to program management issues using the appropriate resources; lead short-term, tactical programs of diverse types

Job Duty 3 -
Promote and follow the objectives, priorities, goals of programs through best practices and industry-standard methodologies

Job Duty 4 -
Interact regularly with program sponsors, stakeholders, program teams, and others to determine their needs and use the existing program methodology to develop plans to address these efficiently

Job Duty 5 -
Facilitate or contribute to team or programmatic meetings to communicate program timelines, milestones, and updates

Job Duty 6 -
May participate in and provide information for the strategic planning process at the unit or department level

Job Duty 7 -
Create program artifacts, agendas, presentations, and meeting minutes for program team; Prepare reports and program documentation

Job Duty 8 -
May provide training, guidance, and direction to other staff, especially as it pertains to the use of tools for effective program management

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other job-related duties assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Two or more years of job-related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in higher education administration, public administration, or a related field.

  • Experience working in a faculty affairs office, provosts office, or academic personnel function within higher education.

  • Familiarity with faculty award nomination processes, honorific title administration, or academic recognition programs.

  • Experience using faculty analytics or reputational data tools to identify award candidates.

  • Experience with university administrative data systems or platforms.

  • Experience developing communications or promotional content (web, newsletter, social media) highlighting faculty or organizational achievements.

  • Experience coordinating cross-functional committees or liaison networks across academic or organizational units.

Anticipated salary range of $65,202 to $86,000 will be commensurate with qualifications.

Other Information

The Manager of Faculty Awards, Titles, and Recognition (Program Mgr L3) plays a central role in supporting faculty recognition and title administration within the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty. This position manages complex, high-visibility processes related to endowed and named chairs and professorships, emeritus appointments, Regents titles, and national and international faculty awards, and related communications with Institute and University System offices. Beyond administering these processes, the role leads a proactive faculty recognition and honorifics program that identifies promising nominees, builds strong nomination packets, and promotes faculty achievements to internal and external audiences. The role requires careful coordination, strong attention to detail, sound judgment in working with sensitive and confidential information, and the ability to guide nominations, appointments, approvals, records, communications, and web updates from start to finish, while cultivating close partnerships with deans, chairs, and college-level faculty affairs staff to strengthen a culture of recognition across the Institute.
