Description

We are seeking a Product Owner / Software Development Project Lead to support small-scale software development and integration projects. This position will serve as a key point of contact for both the development team and customer, helping translate customer needs into actionable requirements, prioritize development activities, support project decisions, and ensure successful delivery of software capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software development processes, requirements management, testing, and project coordination. This role requires someone who can work effectively with developers, testers, technical subject matter experts, and government customers while maintaining a strong focus on delivering quality products that meet customer expectations. #LI-Remote

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Product Owner and primary point of contact (POC) for assigned small software development projects.
  • Work directly with customers and stakeholders to understand operational needs, requirements, priorities, and desired capabilities.
  • Translate customer needs into clear, actionable requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and development priorities.
  • Maintain and prioritize product backlogs based on customer needs, project objectives, technical considerations, and available resources.
  • Coordinate closely with software developers, testers, system integrators, cybersecurity personnel, and other technical staff.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, task prioritization, and resource coordination.
  • Lead or facilitate project meetings, requirements discussions, sprint planning, demonstrations, reviews, and status meetings.
  • Make day-to-day decisions regarding project priorities and requirements while escalating significant technical, schedule, cost, or scope issues when appropriate.
  • Serve as the primary communication bridge between the customer and development team.
  • Lead and coordinate software testing efforts, including development of test plans, test cases, test procedures, and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing as applicable.
  • Review test results, identify deficiencies, coordinate corrective actions, and track issues through resolution.
  • Support Build Acceptance Testing (BAT), Verification & Validation (V&V), and other formal testing activities when required.
  • Evaluate completed development work against requirements and acceptance criteria before delivery to the customer.
  • Coordinate software demonstrations and product reviews with customers and stakeholders.
  • Track project risks, issues, action items, dependencies, and decisions.
  • Support configuration management, change management, and release management activities.
  • Assist with software release planning and coordination.
  • Ensure project documentation is maintained and updated throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Support development of technical documentation, user documentation, release notes, test documentation, and project status reports.
  • Help ensure software products comply with applicable organizational, contractual, cybersecurity, and development standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve development processes, testing practices, and team efficiency.
  • Provide regular project status, schedule, risk, and performance updates to program and customer leadership.
  • Perform other duties associated with software development and project support as required.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience supporting software development, software integration, project management, product ownership, or a related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience working with software development teams and technical personnel.
  • Experience gathering, documenting, analyzing, and prioritizing requirements.
  • Experience developing or managing user stories, acceptance criteria, requirements, or similar development artifacts.
  • Experience supporting or leading software testing activities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with a broader project team.
  • Experience serving as a Product Owner, Scrum Master, Technical Project Lead, or Software Project Manager.
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or other iterative software development methodologies.
  • Experience with tools such as GitLab, GitHub, or similar project and development management platforms.
  • Experience developing test plans, test cases, test procedures, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with automated testing and/or continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) environments.
  • Familiarity with source control and software configuration management practices.
  • Familiarity with software release and deployment processes.
  • Experience supporting software integration activities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a CompTIA Security Plus certification prior to start date.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be U.S. Citizen.
