University HR Payroll Coordinator

The University HR Payroll Coordinator will support payroll operations for a large public-sector organization, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.

Responsibilities:




  • Prepare, process, review, and audit payroll transactions.



  • Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate processing.



  • Process specialized payroll transactions, including tax corrections, replacement checks, refunds, duplicate-payment corrections, deductions, and payment adjustments.



  • Recalculate payroll payments based on applicable policies, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.



  • Review and implement New York State and New York City payroll bulletins.



  • Audit payroll information submitted by multiple departments and recommend corrective actions.



  • Assist with implementation and administration of collective bargaining agreement provisions.



  • Work with HR and payroll teams to resolve payroll issues and employee inquiries.



  • Create reports, conduct payroll research, and analyze information across HRIS/payroll systems.



  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee and payroll information.




Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree required.



  • Payroll processing, payroll auditing, HR/payroll operations, or related experience strongly preferred.



  • Experience with PeopleSoft/PSQuery, NYC or NYS payroll systems, or similar HRIS/payroll platforms highly desirable.



  • Knowledge of payroll-related federal, state, and local regulations preferred.



  • Experience interpreting policies, payroll bulletins, or collective bargaining agreements is a strong plus.



  • Strong analytical and research skills.



  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required; familiarity with Access, Word, SharePoint, Teams, and other HR/payroll systems preferred.



  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, confidentiality, and customer service skills.
