Job Summary The Security Technician is responsible for installing, programming, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and servicing electronic security systems for projects of varying size and complexity. This role provides technical support and customer training while working closely with project and operations teams to ensure systems meet project requirements, quality standards, and customer expectations. The position requires strong experience with commercial physical security integration, panel termination, system programming, and troubleshooting, with a strong preference for candidates with data center experience. The Security Technician may also provide technical guidance to less experienced team members while supporting multiple projects throughout the local metropolitan area. Job Responsibilities
Install, program, test, repair, commission, and service electronic security systems and related equipment.
Perform system start-up, checkout, certification testing, programming, and closeout activities for assigned projects.
Complete panel terminations and associated wiring in accordance with system specifications, drawings, and applicable standards.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and project specifications to determine installation and service requirements.
Use standard test equipment, hand tools, and power tools to install, diagnose, repair, and maintain electronic security equipment.
Operate and test systems to verify performance, identify malfunctions, and ensure proper system operation.
Develop and modify system programming and configurations as required by project specifications.
Provide technical support, system demonstrations, and training to customers.
Coordinate with engineering, project management, and operations personnel to resolve system installation, programming, maintenance, and warranty issues.
Execute technical aspects of multiple projects, including programming, graphics development, start-up, testing, customer training, documentation, and ongoing technical support.
Identify potential project risks and communicate concerns to appropriate team members to help minimize schedule, cost, and operational impacts.
Assist with project coordination and provide recommendations regarding work quality, scope changes, installation methods, and system performance.
Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism while working at customer locations.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced technicians as needed.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
3-5 years of relevant experience in electronic security systems, field service, or commercial physical security integration.
Commercial physical security integration experience strongly preferred.
Previous data center experience strongly preferred.
Strong hands-on experience with security panel termination required.
Technical experience with electronic security systems, including installation, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and repair.
Experience with Genetec, Axis, Hanwha, BioConnect, Alcatraz, Software House, Lenel, Avigilon, AMAG, Milestone, ONSSI, or similar security technologies preferred.
Product-specific or industry-specific certifications and licenses preferred.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
Strong programming and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose system issues and identify effective solutions.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to safely use hand and power tools, including drills, screwdrivers, wire strippers, hacksaws, and crimpers.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to support multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively in deadline-driven environments.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to travel regularly to local job sites with minimal overnight travel.
