Job Description

Role Overview:

The Visa Protect for Banks team sits within the Risk & Security Intelligence Solutions group and leads a portfolio of commercial solutions that helps banks detect and manage fraud. The Sr. Product Manager, Visa Protect for Banks will drive product strategy, roadmap, and key initiatives to grow the core solution line (Cards, Authentication, Account to Account) within the portfolio.

The Sr. Product Manager will work closely with solution leaders to define a strategy based on deep understanding of market conditions and develop data backed business cases to garner investment for key initiatives. This role owns and drives initiatives that strengthen our client offerings: translating client, commercial, and regional needs into a clear, prioritized set of requirements that are driven into the Visa Protect platform and its underlying capabilities across AI/ML models, decisioning, case management and agent driven analytics.

The role requires bridging the commercial front (regional solutions leads and clients) with the platform and data-science product teams that build the capability. It requires a product leader who is equally comfortable reasoning about model behavior and data flows as they are quantifying commercial value and shaping a client narrative. The ideal candidate combines a strong analytical foundation, sharp product sense in a highly ambiguous space, technical fluency and the ability to drive outcomes through influence across teams they do not own.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client & market engagement and analysis: Maintain a customer-centric view of risk - by keeping track of clients and regional teams' needs and pain points to understand evolving fraud patterns, regulatory considerations, and unmet needs, and feeding that intelligence back into the roadmap.
  • Develop clear narratives and positioning, partner with regional stakeholders and marketing to build clear narratives for targeted customer segments that articulate a compelling, evidence-based value proposition in every client engagement.
  • Prioritization & governance: Partner with solution leaders to evaluate client and regional requests, develop demand-side view into the team's intake and prioritization forum, develop supporting business cases, reconciling region-specific requests against the global solution-line roadmap and against shared-platform investment needs.
  • Initiative ownership: Own the discovery, business case, roadmap and requirements for key initiatives within a solution line. Define clear problem statements, target outcomes, and priorities across the five regions; maintain a single, coherent product direction rather than a collection of one-off regional asks.
  • Cross-functional solutioning & execution: Play a key role in discovery, design thinking, and proof-of-concepts to validate client demand and technical feasibility. Align product, data science, engineering, pricing, legal, and client-services teams to deliver cohesive solutions and clear product requirements from discovery through go/no-go.
  • Platform & AI-model interface: Act as a key interface into the capability platforms (e.g., Visa Risk Manager, Visa Consumer Authentication Service, Featurespace) and AI/ML models teams. Translate commercial priorities into technical requirements and translate tradeoffs, and constraints back into terms the commercial team and clients can act on. Reason fluently about detection performance (precision/recall, false positives vs. missed fraud) in client-economic terms.
  • AI Fluency: Proven ability to leverage modern productivity platforms, data analytics solutions, and Generative AI tools (e.g., Claude) to enhance decision-making, improve execution efficiency, and accelerate product innovation. Demonstrated curiosity and adaptability in evaluating and applying emerging technologies to solve business problems and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Problem Discovery & Strategic Thinking: Thrive in ambiguous environments with a strong bias for action and can-do attitude. Proactively dig deep into customer needs, data, and market insights to uncover opportunities, define problems, and drive measurable outcomes.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD.
  • Product management experience in payments, fintech financial services, or risk/fraud domains; Strong analytical and commercial-modeling skills, with experience using data to quantify value and guide product decisions
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to synthesize market, regulatory, and client insights into meaningful solution recommendations that drive value.
  • Effective, structured communicator and storyteller able to influence teams and stakeholders across regions and functions without direct authority.
  • Experience in driving cross-functional collaboration with global stakeholders, including technology, data science, legal, marketing, and client facing teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver results, and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude - comfortable reading technical documentation, understanding APIs, data flows, and the behavior and tradeoffs of ML/AI models.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and product sense, with the ability to break down ambiguous problem spaces.
  • Customer-first mindset with the ability to identify unmet needs and propose pragmatic, value-driven solutions.
