Job Description

The Clinical Registered Dietitian II is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team who provides general clinical nutrition care to all patients on units in which they are trained and competent to perform. The Clinical RD II identifies patients with malnutrition, increased protein and/or energy needs or other medical problems affecting nutrition status. Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing medical nutrition therapy using established standards of care and practice policies/guidelines; evaluating and monitoring the effectiveness and outcomes of the plan of care; ensuring continuity of care throughout the provision of care process; providing nutrition education to patient and family members on behaviors to accomplish patient goals; conducting educational programs for hospital staff and the community, as needed. Participate in performance improvement projects as assigned.

In addition, for Clinical Registered Dietitian II working in the outpatient setting, provide nutrition counseling to those with specific medical diagnoses, altered nutrition status and those wishing to promote optimal health for chronic disease management. Delivers education through individual counseling, group classes, and community presentations using in-person and/or remote based tools as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Complete the minimum education requirements as set forth by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • For out-patient practice, three (3) years of relevant experience in out-patient based counseling and education settings preferred.
  • General knowledge of Electronic Medical Record programs, nutrient analysis software and MS office applications or similar applications.

Must meet one of the three qualifications below:

  • Master's Degree in a nutrition or health related field, OR
  • Complete fellowship related to nutrition, public health or healthcare administration, OR
  • Complete and maintain certification in a particular area of expertise by CDR and/or ASPEN and/or American Association of Diabetes Educators resulting in any of the following credentials and consecutive recertification periods:
  • Board Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition
  • Board Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition
  • Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition
  • Board Certified Specialist in Digestive Heatlh
  • Board Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management
  • Certified Nutrition Support Clinician
  • Advanced Practitioner in Clinical Nutrition
  • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialistist

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

Must be a Registered Dietitian; registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as defined by the California Business and Professions Code and be current with CDR portfolio.

Ages of Patients Served- This position will serve all age groups.

Salary Range:

$56.76 - $75.47 USD Hour
