Westfields Hospital is hiring an overnight Security Officer. The primary role and responsibility of this position is to protect people, property, information, and the reputation of HealthPartners, Westfields Hospital & Clinics, and the Valley Region's hospitals and clinics. This position will represent HealthPartners, performing duties in a courteous and professional manner that conveys a positive image of the organization and that fosters cooperation and support with staff, patients, visitors, and external agencies. This position will respond to a wide variety of routine public service and emergency support calls requiring various problem-solving techniques, judgment, verbal de-escalation, and appropriate use of force. This position requires the ability to independently manage work, completing the duties outlined in this job description and other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: |
- Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent.
- 2 years previous experience in:
- Security, law enforcement or public safety.
- Customer service.
- Military service

Ability to evaluate and analyze processes, and to make recommendations to the Security Manager. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office. Ability to drive with personal vehicle to any HealthPartners Valley region site within 3 hours. Ability to work a scheduled shift and can flex to cover other shifts in urgent or emergent situations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: |
- Preferred: 2 or 4-year degree in Security/Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice/Social science or human services related field; or, currently in a related degree program.

Accurately and promptly complete all required documentation to include daily events logs, incident reports, and other forms or documents as assigned.

Patrol interior and exterior areas of properties where assigned by vehicle and/or on foot according to standard operating procedures and situational needs.
|
|
Promptly respond to escalating behavioral and conflict events, assuring for the care, welfare, safety, and security of all involved
|
|
Promptly coordinate response to internal and external situations impacting life safety, facility infrastructure and business continuity; initiating and utilizing the Incident Command System (ICS) to ensure appropriate organizational leaders are notified and assigned roles as these situations demand.
|
|
Investigate crimes, traffic accidents, suspicious incidents, and other calls for service, gathering evidence and documenting information, and assisting in follow-up investigations as assigned.
|
|
Address and document unusual or unsafe conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards, including stopping work to ensure staff, patient, visitor, and contractor safety.
|
|
Restrict access to and identify persons with no business on property.
|
|
Enforce parking guidelines and direct traffic to assist motorists.
|
|
Process lost and found property, patient valuables, contraband, and weapons.
|
|
Participate in daily shift briefings and department trainings.
|
|
Ensures staff compliance to organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
|
|
Maintains close communication with the HealthPartners Valley Region stakeholders and responds to requests for support.
|
|
Provides security assistance as needed at all HealthPartners properties.
|
|
Makes security decisions at the shift and site operational level, in alignment with the strategy and vision set by HealthPartners leadership.
|
|
Follows the strategic and operational direction of the Director and Vice President, Security.
|
|
Ability to work a schedule that includes evenings, nights and weekends
|
