Pharmacy Clinical Informatics Specialist III - 141043

The Pharmacy Clinical Informatics Specialist III is responsible for triaging, designing, managing, and meeting analytics needs across the UCSD Health system for the Department of Pharmacy. The Pharmacy Clinical Informatics Specialist III is responsible for producing/building reports in Reporting workbench, Radar, Clarity, Crystal and Tableau in support of Pharmacy Department inpatient, infusion, retail pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, ambulatory clinics for a variety of operations, financial, and quality improvement reporting needs. The Pharmacy Clinical Informatics Specialist III also supports enterprise efforts such as Epic upgrades and other optimization and go-live efforts. The position supports the Pharmacy Department residency programs by providing reports for research and medication use evaluation projects. The position supports the organizations quality and safety initiatives, collecting and trending relevant data.

The position is involved in the development and implementation of the organization's information systems and tools that are applied to clinical information. Works closely with team members to optimize effective use of systems. Coordinates analytical support for health management, including profiling, health economics, and business analytics/performance metrics. Defines systems and applications to support various functions. May provide customer service, troubleshooting and maintenance. Applies skills and experience as a seasoned clinical informatics professional to projects of medium size at all levels of complexity, or portions of large projects.

• Seven (7) years of related healthcare analytics experience, education/training; OR a Bachelor's Degree in related area plus three (3) years of related healthcare analytics experience/training.

• Broad and / or in-depth knowledge of 1-2 areas of focus in clinical informatics specialty areas. Knowledge of controlled terminology, clinical workflows, user interface optimization, clinical decision support, rules development, data integration and mining, clinical ontologies and adoption of technology.

• Thorough knowledge of all relevant clinical informatics software and technology, and the complex concepts, principles, policies, methodologies, and industry standards and practices involved with patient care and electronic medical data management in the UC health care system.

• Detail oriented, with proven ability to effectively manage time, see projects through to completion, organize competing priorities, and effectively address complex, urgent issues as they arise.

• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate productively, work in a team environment, and to train and support clinical informatics users at all professional and technical levels throughout the medical center.

• Strong problem-resolution skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.

• Strong analytical skills and knowledge in documentation and reporting, with the ability to select and run queries, collect and analyze system performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses.

• Ability to work with senior staff and managers in clinical information technology, health care management, and business analytics, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and performance.

• EPIC Certifications in Cogito, Clarity, and/or Caboodle.

• Will be required to be certified in assigned EMR vendor's product/module within the first six (6) months of employment.

• Must satisfy all vendor testing requirements to be certified without needing to attend vendors training a second time for the same class.

• Professional level experience working with clinical information systems and developing reports.

• Three years or more of Epic experience.

• Intermediate level capabilities with MSSQL server and related technologies.

• Knowledge and intermediate level experience working with Transact SQL, Crystal Reports and/or other related technologies.

• Extensive experience and working knowledge of all MS office products.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of database management technologies.

• Strong project management skills. Ability to working a group setting and group projects.

• Excellent verbal, written communication skills, presentation and report writing. Strong interpersonal skills

• Advanced level experience with database management and various third-party report building tools such as Tableau, Crystal Reports, Cognos, SAS, and others.

• Experience in a large, complex healthcare environment.

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
