Job Summary:

The Department of Neurosurgery currently seeks a Neurosurgeon at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank to join the Neurosurgery Faculty. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position which will include (0.5 cFTE) at University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Campus to help build the peripheral nerve program. This position will also work with our Pediatric Division (0.1 cFTE) and assist with our spine program, including work to develop a spinal cord injury program (0.4 cFTE). Teaching, clinical, research, and service responsibilities. The position will work closely with other neurosurgeons to build and cover the Neurosurgical Peripheral Nerve practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical care and consult management

* Serve as a neurosurgeon at UCHAnschutz (.9 FTE) and CHCO-Anschutz (.1 FTE) providing both general and specialized skills

* Build a peripheral nerve program at UC Anschutz and CHCO Anschutz.

* Develop a Spinal Cord Injury program at UCHAnschutz

* Provide timely assessments and documentation in outpatient and inpatient settings.

* Review neurosurgery consults to determine the most appropriate initial provider or management plan and confirm that the existing work-up is adequate.

* Provide therapeutic interventions appropriate to the physician's expertise and the facility's capabilities.

* Maintain clinical privileges, including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation, and management.

Collaboration and program support

* Collaborate with providers in other medical and surgical services, including making appropriate referrals.

* Participate in facility programs that improve patient care, including patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.

* Adjust work schedules and assignments on short notice to meet changing workloads and deadlines.

Academic, administrative, and teaching responsibilities

* Perform administrative and academic duties related to the specialty.

* Provide supervision, teaching, and technical training to residents based on their training level and experience.

* Report administratively and clinically to the Chief of Surgery.

Compliance and standards

* Maintain all training, certifications, and licensing as up to date

* Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team

* Participate in quality improvement efforts

* Meet Department of Neurosurgery Citizenship requirements. Failure to comply can result in up to a 5% decrease to base salary. Requirements may vary annually.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Assistant Professor:

* MD or DO

* Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurosurgery

* Graduate of an American Board of Neurological Surgery residency program

* Maintains or is eligible for Colorado State Medical License

Associate Professor:

* MD or DO

* Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurosurgery

* Graduate of an American Board of Neurological Surgery residency program

* Maintains or is eligible for Colorado State Medical License

* 7+ years of experience in Neurosurgery

Preferred Qualifications:

* Ample clinical experience and/or fellowship training in complex spine surgery

* Experience in managing peripheral nerve pathology, focus in nerve tumors, neuromodulation, and peripheral nerve reconstruction

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other physicians and staff at all levels throughout the institution.

* Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability, with capacity for program building.

Assistant Professor: $553,399-$642,143

Associate Professor: $631,623-$741,663

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
