The role serves as the primary commercial and operational interface for assigned customers and coordinates Field Service, Engineering, Remote Monitoring, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, Legal, and OEM partners to achieve availability, reliability, safety, schedule, and financial objectives.
The preferred candidate brings direct experience managing BESS operations and maintenance (O&M) programs or long-term service agreements (LTSAs), including preventive and corrective maintenance, warranty administration, outage coordination, performance reporting, change management, and customer governance. Experience in adjacent utility-scale power, renewable energy, power conversion, substation, or industrial service environments will also be considered.

Job Description

PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Service Project and BESS LTSA Management

* Translate contractual scope, service levels, exclusions, customer obligations, warranties, performance guarantees, and reporting requirements into an executable operating plan.

* Establish the project governance cadence, responsibility matrix, communications plan, maintenance schedule, risk register, action log, and customer reporting package.

* Coordinate planned maintenance, corrective maintenance, emergency response, site access, outage windows, switching support, spare parts, subcontractors, and engineering resources.

* Monitor contract deliverables, milestone dates, notice requirements, response obligations, and potential exposure to service credits or liquidated damages; escalate risks early with documented recovery actions.

* Maintain disciplined records supporting entitlement, warranty claims, change orders, customer billing, and contract compliance.

Technical and Operational Coordination

* Coordinate service activities involving battery DC blocks, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Power Conversion Systems (PCS), medium-voltage transformers, switchgear, protective relays, HVAC and fire detection/suppression interfaces, SCADA, controls, communications, and balance-of-plant equipment.

* Partner with Field Service and Engineering to prioritize alarms, defects, recurring failures, root-cause investigations, technical bulletins, corrective action plans, and reliability improvements.

* Ensure preventive maintenance plans, inspection intervals, test procedures, site-specific work plans, and maintenance records align with contractual requirements and approved technical documentation.

* Lead cross-functional response to major outages, safety events, capacity or availability concerns, and customer escalations, including clear ownership, communications, and closure criteria.

* Coordinate commissioning-to-service handoff, open-punch-list closure, warranty transition, spare parts readiness, special tools, training, and site documentation.

Commercial and Financial Management

* Manage project revenue, cost, margin, cash flow, billing milestones, forecasts, accruals, reserves, and financial risks within approved parameters.

* Identify out-of-scope work and prepare commercial documentation for quotations, change orders, extensions, renewals, and additional service opportunities.

* Review supplier and subcontractor performance against purchase orders, statements of work, warranties, and flow-down obligations.

* Support annual operating plans, backlog reviews, resource forecasts, and variance analysis; implement corrective actions when performance deviates from plan.

* Protect contractual rights through timely notices, complete records, and coordinated engagement with Commercial, Finance, and Legal stakeholders.

Customer and Stakeholder Leadership

* Serve as the primary point of accountability for assigned customers, building trust through transparency, responsiveness, technical credibility, and reliable follow-through.

* Lead recurring customer operating reviews covering safety, work completed, open issues, availability and reliability trends, maintenance plans, risks, actions, and commercial matters.

* Coordinate effectively with asset owners, operators, EPC contractors, utilities, OEMs, suppliers, and internal functional leaders.

* Provide concise executive-level updates, decision requests, risk summaries, and recovery plans.

* Mentor less-experienced project managers and contribute to standard work, lessons learned, and continuous improvement across the Service organization.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

* Contract compliance: Deliverables, notices, reports, maintenance activities, and customer obligations are actively managed and documented.

* Customer experience: Commitments are realistic, clearly communicated, and consistently closed.

* Operational performance: Risks affecting availability, reliability, schedule, or response are identified early and managed through documented actions.

* Financial performance: Revenue, cost, margin, cash, and forecast accuracy are actively controlled.

* Continuous improvement: Recurring issues generate corrective actions, lessons learned, and measurable process improvements.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Operations, Finance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant technical and project-management experience may be considered.

* Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or comparable project-management certification preferred.

* Valid driver license and ability to travel to customer sites in the United States and Canada, as business needs require.

* Ability to satisfy customer-site access, background-screening, and safety-training requirements.

EXPERIENCE
Required:

* Demonstrated ownership of complex customer-facing projects involving multiple functions, suppliers, schedules, commercial constraints, and technical risks.

* Experience managing budgets, forecasts, billing, cost control, change orders, risk registers, action logs, and executive reporting.

* Ability to interpret commercial agreements and convert contractual obligations into clear operational plans and controls.

* Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder-influence skills.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project-management tools; experience with ERP, CRM, or field-service systems is preferred.
