Responsibilities

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington is a 130-bed facility with inpatient, outpatient and partial hospitalization programs. BASIC FUNCTION:

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington seeks a licensed clinical psychologist for the role of Psychologist. The Supervising Psychologist will facilitate continued service excellence in the provision of group psychotherapy for patients in the care of the Psychiatric Institute of Washington. The Supervising Psychologist also supervises psychology externs and postdoctoral fellows in their provision of group psychotherapy, individual psychotherapy, and psychological assessment. Finally, the Supervising Psychologist will consult to clinical and administrative leadership as needed. Brief individual psychotherapy, psychodiagnostics assessment, and teaching opportunities may be available.

Clinical duties will focus upon providing psychological services to the adult population.

This position is part-time (3 days per week) and eligible for benefits and paid-time off.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform and supervise psychological evaluations according to accepted standards of practice.
  • Supervise group therapy interventions and psychological assessments.
  • Performs and supervises psychotherapy services of assigned patients.
  • Supervise psychologists in training (externs and post-doctoral fellows).
  • Performs group therapy services to patients as assigned by the director and as coverage when short staffed.
  • Supervises the clinical practice of the psychology externs, interns, and residents including running weekly psychotherapy seminar for the externs.
  • Provide clinical consultation, administrative consultation and teaching on an as-needed basis, working collaboratively with treatment teams to enhance positive outcomes.
  • Review and approve progress notes, ensuring their timely completion and accurate filing.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting directly to this position: Psychology externs and postdoctoral fellows.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must hold a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology from an APA-accredited institution.
  • Must be a licensed clinical psychologist in Washington, D.C.
  • Experience providing psychological services to patients with severe and persistent mental illness, including experience leading groups.
  • Experience supervising psychology trainees.
