Hyatt Regency Times Square is perfectly located in the heart of Times Square excitement, situated directly on Broadway between 48th and 49th Streets. This iconic, ultra-modern, full-service hotel is surrounded by Broadway theaters and close to world-famous shopping and sightseeing. The hotel has 795 modern, newly renovated guestrooms.



Overview

The Server is responsible for providing the highest quality of service to guests in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner. He/she is also responsible for receiving and delivering guests orders and collecting payment. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the restaurant.



Responsibilities

Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with the guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.

* Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.

* Must be open and willing to work as a team and help colleagues when needed.

* Should have the ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.

* Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.

* Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.

* Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.

* Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.

* Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

* Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

* Have the ability to effectively handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

* Have the ability to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.

* Have the ability to cross-train in other hotel related areas.

* Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

* Have the ability to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.

* Perform other duties as requested by management.

* Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.

Additional Requirements:

* Be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.

* Be familiar with the organization of the lounge and knock and drop Service.

* Have a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in applicable outlets to include knowing all allergens and intolerances on the menu.

* Service guests with all food and beverage requirements in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner.

* Practice "guest first" mentality at all times.

* Pre-bus all tables removing soiled dishes.

* Keep service station clean and restocked at all times.

* Be familiar with the operation of the P.O.S system.

* Perform cashiering functions by closing checks and preparing end of shift paperwork.

* Perform opening and closing procedures and side-work duties according to station rotation assignment and established checklist.

* Ensure that tables and side stands are kept stocked, tidy and clean.

* Keep all water glasses full during dining.

* Take to-go orders for food and beverages, follow up, deliver and claim pay when a guest requires such service.

* Apply and practice the provided training and Sequence of service to all tables in your section.

* Breakdown trays of soiled dishes and linen in the dish room according to established standards.

* Consistently upsell food, beverage and promotional items to guests.

* Be familiar with fire extinguishers, locations and know how to use them.

* Receive and deliver food and beverage orders and collect payment.

* Ensure overall guest satisfaction.



Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.

* Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages, according to local state laws.

* Must have TIPS, safe alcohol service certification. (T.S.)

Abilities Needed:

* Flexible to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required.

* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

* Ability to stand and walk during entire shift.

* Have the ability to maneuver throughout the dining area while carrying full trays of food & beverages.

* Previous serving experience would be preferred

For Employees Based in Colorado:

  • 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
  • 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based in California:

  • 8 paid holidays per year
  • Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
  • Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.

Please note that certain benefits described above for associates in Washington, Colorado, and California may vary for associates covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement ("CBA"). For such associates, eligibility for and the terms and conditions of benefits are governed by the applicable CBA and any applicable plan documents, and may differ from the benefits described above. In the event of any conflict or inconsistency, the terms of the applicable CBA and governing plan documents will control, as applicable.
