Description

Strategy Manager

At Gensler, Design Strategy is about helping organizations navigate change and unlock new possibilities. Combining research, analytics, design thinking, and deep stakeholder engagement, we develop strategies that transform the way people work, experience, and interact with the built environment.

Our Atlanta Strategy Studio is expanding, and we're seeking an experienced Strategy Manager to lead complex client engagements and help shape the future of our growing practice. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker and trusted advisor who brings expertise from workplace strategy, management consulting, real estate strategy, change management, experience strategy, or a related field.

You'll work with leading organizations across corporate, cultural, and real estate sectors, helping them solve complex business challenges through innovative strategies that align people, place, technology, and organizational goals.

We're looking for someone who is equally energized by delivering exceptional client outcomes, developing teams, and contributing to the evolution of our practice. The ideal candidate brings prior experience leading strategy or consulting engagements and can contribute immediately as a client-facing leader, mentor, and trusted advisor.

Your role

The Strategy Manager leads workplace transformation, change management, and stakeholder engagement projects. You will help organizations tackle complex business, workplace, and organizational challenges through research-driven, data-informed, and human-centered strategy. Working at the intersection of business, experience, and the built environment, you'll lead engagements from discovery through implementation planning, helping clients make informed decisions and drive meaningful change.

This role combines client leadership, project delivery, business development, and team mentorship. You'll oversee multiple engagements, guide multidisciplinary teams, contribute to practice growth, and help strengthen Gensler's strategic advisory capabilities. We're looking for an experienced professional who can quickly contribute strategic expertise and build trusted client relationships.

What You Will Do

  • Lead strategy engagements from pursuit through implementation, ensuring successful outcomes for clients and project teams while managing multiple projects and workstreams.
  • Build trusted client relationships and lead conversations with senior stakeholders to understand complex workplace, organizational, portfolio, and experience-related challenges.
  • Design and lead engagement and research programs that build alignment and stakeholder buy-in, using qualitative and quantitative methods to generate actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Lead workplace and organizational strategy that connects business goals, culture, operations, technology, employee experience, and the physical environment, translating complex information into compelling narratives and clear direction.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams of strategists, researchers, designers, architects, planners, communications specialists, and consultants to develop integrated, implementable solutions.
  • Manage project delivery and financial performance, including scope, schedules, staffing, budgets, resources, risks, quality, and profitability, ensuring work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Support business development and practice growth by developing proposals, project approaches, scopes, budgets, and fee strategies; participating in pitches; deepening client relationships; and contributing to thought leadership and practice innovation.
  • Develop people and strengthen project teams through mentoring, coaching, and thoughtful team leadership, while partnering with design studios and Studio Directors to carry strategy through implementation.

Who You Are

You're a strategic thinker, relationship builder, and trusted advisor who enjoys helping organizations navigate complex challenges and turn ideas into action. You:

  • Connect business strategy, organizational goals, workplace experience, and the built environment to identify opportunities and develop meaningful solutions.
  • Build credibility and influence across all levels through strong relationships, sound judgment, and an empathetic approach.
  • Thrive in ambiguity, bringing clarity, structure, and momentum while balancing big-picture thinking with practical action.
  • Are an exceptional facilitator who navigates diverse perspectives, fosters productive dialogue, and creates alignment around shared goals.
  • Are a compelling storyteller and communicator who makes complex ideas clear, persuasive, and engaging through writing, visuals, and presentations.
  • Collaborate naturally across disciplines and perspectives, valuing different expertise and bringing people together around a common purpose.
  • Bring strong business judgment, balancing client value, project needs, and organizational priorities.
  • Are curious, proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning, with the organization and attention to detail needed to follow through.

Your Qualifications and Background

  • 10+ years of professional experience in strategy consulting, workplace strategy, organizational development, change management, real estate strategy, experience strategy, or a related advisory field.
  • Proven success leading complex strategy engagements involving multiple stakeholders, disciplines, and evolving priorities.
  • Experience serving as a primary client contact and building trusted, long-term client relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience developing project approaches, scopes of work, proposals, schedules, and budgets, including responding to RFQs and RFPs.
  • Experience managing project financial performance, including scope, fees, resourcing, forecasting, and profitability.
  • Experience designing and facilitating executive workshops, stakeholder engagement processes, and other collaborative working sessions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in qualitative and quantitative research, data analysis, synthesis, storytelling, and strategic communications.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline required; advanced degree in a relevant field a plus.
  • Experience in workplace strategy, architecture, interior design, real estate, or a related built-environment field a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly PowerPoint, and familiarity with digital collaboration and visualization platforms such as Miro, Mural, and Adobe Creative Suite.

To be considered, please include 2-3 project examples and a cover letter as part of your submission.
