Join the Pediatric Emergency Department at UVA Children's, a growing specialty environment serving approximately18,500 patient visits annually. You will work alongside specialty-trained pediatric nurses and an interdisciplinary team,while developing skills in pediatric assessment, triage support, IV insertion, blood collection, and 12-lead EKGs. The Role As a Pediatric Emergency Department Technician, you will support children with a wide range of urgent and emergent needs, including medical, surgical, and behavioral health presentations. You will help create a safe, efficient, and family-centered experience from arrival through discharge or inpatient admission. This is a consistently active clinical environment where techniciansremainengaged, recognize changing priorities, and respond within their approved scope. Your contributions help nurses and other clinicians focus on the highest level of their practice while ensuring patients receive attentive,timelycare. In this role, you will:
The department uses three 12-hour shifts:
Immediate needs includewage,day,and night opportunities, with theoptionforpart-timeormid-shift. Part-time team membersgenerally worktwo shifts per week, while wage team members provide flexible supplemental support.Weekend commitments vary by employment status and are scheduled within a six-week period. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent Experience: No experience required Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required. For Non-Certified team members hired prior to May 11, 2026, certification is not required, as relevant experience will be accepted in its place. Must have one of the following:
PREFERRED Emergency Medical Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia strongly preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires frequently bending/stooping and driving (Home Health Aide only). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs and > 100lbs (Home Health Aide only). May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. Benefits
