Join our UVA Health Orthopedic team as a Clinical Athletic Trainer and take your ATC career beyond the traditional athletic setting. At UVA Orthopedics, you will work in a high-volume, collaborative ambulatory environment alongside orthopedic physicians, APPs, nurses, and other clinical team members while providing hands-on care to a diverse orthopedic patient population. This role offers the opportunity to build strong provider partnerships, develop specialized orthopedic skills, participate in casting and splinting, provide patient education, assist with procedures, and play an active role in improving clinic workflows and the overall patient experience. What You Will Do The ATC will primarily work alongside orthopedic providers in a busy outpatient setting. A typical day may include preparing and rooming patients, obtaining histories and completing clinical intake, assisting providers with clinic flow and procedures, providing patient education, applying braces/DME, assisting with or independently performing casting and splinting once competency requirements are met, and coordinating follow-up needs. The ATC will develop a close working relationship with their assigned providers and become an important clinical resource for both the provider and the patient. Within the ambulatory environment, ATCs are essential members of the care team-supporting efficient clinic flow, optimizing patient readiness, and enhancing access and quality across multiple specialties. ATCs are expected to demonstrate sound clinical judgment, advocate for patient safety, communicate effectively with providers and staff, engage in continuous improvement activities, and model professional behaviors aligned with NATA's expectations for leadership, cultural competence, and patient advocacy. Other expectations may include:
