Summary: In this role, you will lead the day-to-day engineering delivery of Vizient's intelligent automation portfolio, ensuring automation initiatives are planned, staffed, executed, and operationalized predictably. You will manage engineers and coordinate business analysts, quality engineers, product partners, vendors, and cross-functional technology teams across concurrent automation initiatives. You will combine strong engineering management with project and program delivery discipline across Power Platform, UiPath, API-enabled automation, and emerging AI-assisted automation solutions. This role is accountable for execution visibility, delivery health, team capacity, dependency management, and continuous improvement of the automation delivery operating model. Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day delivery across multiple intelligent automation initiatives from intake and planning through build, testing, release, and production stabilization.
- Manage scope, estimates, schedules, capacity, dependencies, risks, issues, and delivery commitments across the automation portfolio.
- Drive sprint planning, backlog readiness, standups, delivery reviews, retrospectives, and other appropriate Agile or flow-based delivery practices.
- Maintain clear delivery visibility and proactively drive risks and issues to resolution.
- Plan engineering capacity and resource allocation across prioritized automation initiatives.
- Coordinate internal teams, contractors, vendors, and offshore resources to support predictable delivery.
- Partner with business and product stakeholders on prioritization, sequencing, readiness, and delivery expectations.
- Ensure prerequisites, dependencies, decisions, and ownership are identified before work enters execution.
- Manage, coach, and develop automation engineers while reinforcing accountability, engineering discipline, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Partner with technical leads, architects, and Quality Engineering to ensure solutions follow established engineering standards and include appropriate testing, release readiness, defect management, and production validation.
- Establish and maintain delivery metrics, including throughput, cycle time, predictability, velocity, backlog health, capacity, defects, and production stability; maintain RAID and get-to-green actions for material risks and issues.
- Provide concise, transparent status reporting and continuously improve intake, estimation, planning, execution, release, support, and cross-functional collaboration processes.
Qualifications:
- Relevant degree preferred.
- 8 or more years of experience across technology delivery, software engineering, automation, technical program management, or related functions required.
- 3 or more years managing engineering or technology delivery teams required.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent technology initiatives using Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid delivery approaches required.
- Working knowledge of Power Platform, UiPath, enterprise automation, APIs, integrations, and modern software delivery practices required.
- Strong experience with estimation, capacity planning, resource allocation, dependency management, RAID management, and executive status reporting required.
- Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or comparable delivery management platforms required.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, stakeholder management, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills required.
Preferred Experience:
- PMP, CSM, SAFe, or comparable project or program delivery certification preferred.
- Experience managing distributed, offshore, contractor, or vendor-supported engineering teams preferred.
- Experience with automation Centers of Excellence (CoEs), intelligent automation programs, or enterprise transformation initiatives preferred.
- Experience with CI/CD, release management, production support, observability, and engineering quality practices preferred.
- Experience with AI-enabled automation or agentic workflow delivery preferred.
- Healthcare or other regulated-industry experience preferred.
#LI-JB1 Estimated Hiring Range: At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $117,600.00 to $206,000.00.
