Overview

Hybrid Role: May be based in Somerset, NJ, Plainview, NJ, or Beverly, MA.

Are you passionate about applying AI to solve complex engineering challenges and improve how teams work? Veeco is seeking an AI Applications Engineer to help identify, develop, and deploy AI-enabled solutions that enhance engineering productivity, accelerate decision-making, and drive innovation across the organization.

In this highly visible role, you will partner with engineering, IT, and business teams to evaluate emerging technologies, develop practical AI applications, and support the adoption of solutions that deliver measurable business value. This is an opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge AI technologies while helping shape Veeco's digital transformation strategy.

Responsibilities




  • Partner with engineering and business stakeholders to identify high-value opportunities for AI and automation.
  • Translate business needs into use cases, requirements, and implementation plans in collaboration with IT and data teams.
  • Evaluate, prototype, and deploy AI applications, agents, and workflow automations that improve engineering productivity.
  • Recommend and integrate AI tools, copilots, and related technologies that align with business, technical, and governance requirements.
  • Lead pilots, implementation activities, user enablement, and adoption efforts for new AI solutions.
  • Manage assigned projects, including stakeholder coordination, success metrics, documentation, and training.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in software engineering, AI applications, digital transformation, workflow automation, engineering systems, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze business or technical challenges and contribute to practical technology solutions.



Preferred Qualifications




  • 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives with limited supervision.
  • Ability to evaluate complex business and technical requirements and influence solution direction.
  • Experience partnering with senior technical and business stakeholders.
  • Advanced knowledge of AI platforms, workflow automation technologies, and modern software development practices.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required




  • Ability to identify workflow challenges and contribute to automation and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Python and familiarity with APIs, cloud platforms, workflow automation tools, or low-code technologies.
  • Understanding of AI/ML and generative AI concepts, including large language models and copilots.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, business, and IT teams.
  • Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.



Preferred




  • Experience designing, implementing, or supporting AI applications, agents, or workflow automations.
  • Experience with enterprise AI platforms, including Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Power Platform, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with RAG, enterprise search, knowledge management, and enterprise data integration.
  • Experience leading discovery, requirements gathering, and implementation efforts.
  • Ability to drive user adoption and serve as a technical resource on cross-functional initiatives.



Work Location

This is a hybrid position and may be based at any of Veeco's U.S. locations in Somerset, NJ or Plainview, NY. Alternatively, Veeco will consider candidates based near Beverly, MA. Regular in-person collaboration is expected to support workshops, discovery sessions, pilot activities, implementation efforts, and partnership with product development teams.

Travel Expectations

The role requires flexibility to work on-site as business needs dictate, while also supporting remote work as part of Veeco's hybrid work model. Travel of up to 30% is expected between Veeco locations and other business destinations to support cross-functional initiatives, project execution, and stakeholder engagement. Candidates should be able to travel as needed to effectively collaborate across Veeco's product development and operational teams.


Salary and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is $98,000-$156,000, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
