| Summary |
Create and implement desktop solutions for individual users, workgroups and college wide as necessary. Research new applications and solutions to insure secure computing at the end-points. Install new desktop hardware and software. Diagnose and correct desktop problems in remote laptops, classrooms, event setup, AV equipment's, and conference room. Desktop is defined as all classroom and remote system, and peripherals. Repair equipment and resolve any and all desktop software problems. Maintain network connectivity for all classroom and remote equipment. Create and update desktop images as needed. Assist as necessary both the Network and Server Groups. Act as the on campus subject matter expert for classroom and remote systems. |
| Essential Role Responsibilities |
- Support faculty, staff and students in the use of desktop equipment and software including virus removal.
- Remediate vulnerability on a monthly base by updating and changing configuration as needed
- Create and implement desktop solutions using various tools available such as but not limited to scripting, group policy, and third party applications.
- Manage the day to day activities of any desktop interns when the Computer Solutions Manager is not available.
- Perform diagnostics on desktop equipment and software.
- Coordinate repair or replacement of desktop equipment and software.
- Maintain parts and software inventory
- Assign/reserve IP addresses and ranges, maintain MAC address filters.
- Create and train others to maintain staff desktop, laptop and tablet images, develop scripts to automate installs and task sequences.
- Approve security updates, revoke problematic patches and integrate third-party software patching.
- Manage adjunct and shared workspaces using image freeze technology.
- Manage conference room systems, desktop, projector and other related AV equipment.
- Support remote laptop deployment as needed
- Train faculty and staff as necessary.
- Exercise process improvement through the college's performance improvement system. PDCA
- Manage various contractors as needed.
- Offer technology services and solutions for functional areas during events as needed. (BOT)
- Install and test desktop equipment and software.
- Create and train others on system images using ConfigMgr deployment image capture
- Deploy software using ConfigMgr
- Deploy software settings using GPO
- Manage M365 settings for users for onedrive and Teams
- Maintain administrator right escalation using appropriate tools.
- Assist with cabling throughout the college campus including data and telephone.
- Evaluate all desktop equipment to determine hardware and software compatibility.
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity problems throughout the college campus.
- Configure and perform all MACs for the college PBX systems.
- Advanced troubleshooting of PBX issues as needed.
- Ability to perform account management in Active Directory.
- Perform account management within the identity services environment.
- Maintain or assist Server Group (SG) with maintaining Desktop Group (DG) application, print, imaging, DHCP, WSUS, servers (physical and virtual) and associated storage devices, including equipment and software installation, upgrades, and patching.
- Perform tier 1 and tier 2 services
- Account for all core work in the call tracking database.
- Provide status reports to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

| Experience Required |
- Associates' Degree in CS or related program and 3 years of experience in technical computer field required or Microsoft certification/training with 5 years of direct experience in the field or an approved combination of education, training, and experience with 9 years of directly related work experience.
- A+ Certified and Network+ required.
- Detailed functional knowledge of current Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft application suites
- Detailed functional knowledge with imaging programs.
- Detailed functional knowledge with automated deployment tools of Microsoft software/OS
- Detailed functional knowledge of current desktop equipment hardware. Working knowledge of Power Shell and/or Visual Basic for scripting.
- Working knowledge of virtual environments.
- Working knowledge of Ethernet networking protocols.
- Detailed knowledge of domain naming systems.
- Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.

| Physical Demand Summary |
Lifting computers, peripherals, and simulation equipment up to 25-lbs. from the ground to 5 feet. Transporting computer, peripherals and simulation equipment up to 100 lbs. on carts. Moving furniture to access computer and peripherals equipment.
Work areas sometimes include close quarters such as closets, ceilings and crawl spaces.
Occasional overtime required.
Hours-as assigned, including the possibility of evening or weekend coverage.
May occasionally travel to other
HCC campus sites.
