Materials Sourcing Manager (Apparel)

Location: Portland, OR (Onsite with hybrid flexibility - Fridays WFH)

Duration: ~6-month contract


About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and proactive Materials Sourcing Manager to support a global apparel product supply chain organization. This role will focus on shaping and executing sourcing strategies for apparel materials, with an emphasis on wovens. You will play a critical role in building a competitive supplier base, optimizing cost and lead times, and ensuring high-quality material delivery across seasonal product cycles.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute materials sourcing strategies aligned to cost, quality, and lead-time objectives
  • Build and manage a global supplier network, with a strong focus on Asia-based partners
  • Partner cross-functionally with development, planning, and costing teams to drive sourcing decisions
  • Lead seasonal execution and tracking, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met
  • Analyze data and synthesize insights to provide strategic recommendations to stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for supplier optimization, risk mitigation, and process improvement
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail


What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in materials sourcing, product sourcing, costing, manufacturing, or product development
  • Background in apparel, accessories, or softgoods (textiles, fabrics, trims, etc.)
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders and work across global teams
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to drive execution independently
  • Experience working with international suppliers, particularly in Asia
  • Advanced Excel skills (data analysis, tracking, reporting)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and present to diverse audiences
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in performance or athletic apparel environments
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
  • Experience sourcing woven materials or technical textiles
  • Background in large, matrixed organizations
  • Exposure to sustainability or supplier strategy initiatives
