Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator specializing in fence installation projects to join our team in Reading, PA. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing comprehensive estimates, and collaborating closely with clients, suppliers, and project managers. The Estimator is responsible for preparing proposals for commercial and industrial fence installation projects and sending quotations for work and following bid projects for information about low bid contractors. communicating with customers leads to secure work. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality construction projects while honing your skills in estimating, negotiation, and project management.

Duties

  • Review project plans, specifications, and site conditions to develop precise construction and fence installation estimates.
  • Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to prepare detailed cost proposals.
  • Conduct site visits to gather on-the-ground information, assess scope of work, and verify project requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients and subcontractors to negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms that align with project budgets.
  • Prepare bid packages, analyze bids from subcontractors, and recommend the most competitive options.
  • Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budgets and identify areas for cost control.
  • Support project management teams by providing accurate estimates for planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on fencing or related outdoor structures.
  • Strong knowledge of construction management principles, contracts, and project workflows.
  • Minimum Education - bachelor's degree or related experience.
  • Minimum Experience - 5 - 10 years' industry experience years preferred. Computer Knowledge - Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word preferred. Bluebeam experience is a plus.
  • Supervision - Reports to VP of Estimating.
  • Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Familiarity with construction site operations and safety standards.
  • Ability to analyze complex project data and produce clear, detailed estimates.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members, clients, and vendors.
  • Review plans, specifications and related bid documents to determine and understand the scope of work and requirements of projects
  • Develop detailed material and labor estimates for various commercial and industrial fencing projects.
  • Prepare project quotations and submit to potential customers.
  • Updates bid list with pertinent and accurate information daily.
  • Secures and receives purchase orders from customers and creates sales contracts.
  • Prepares start up sheets for order entry, ensuring accuracy.
  • Assist other members of the team, as needed, with a general knowledge of the bidding and quoting process.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or project managers to discuss and formulate estimates.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Encourage and support marketing strategies, to support and encourage new business.
  • Identify and report improvement opportunities in every aspect of the division.
  • Maintain constant communication with leadership to monitor sales progress.
  • Other responsibilities as directed or assigned.
