Data Storage Solutions Architect


Position Summary

The Data Storage Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise data storage solutions that support business applications, cloud platforms, data protection strategies, and digital transformation initiatives. This role provides technical leadership in storage architecture, ensuring high availability, scalability, performance, security, and regulatory compliance across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.


You'll join a team of capable sales and solution architects to drive opportunities from identified to closed using the many data storage management skills you bring to the table and combining them with the various product, delivery, sales and technical teams within the Data Storage family to ensure your success.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain enterprise storage architectures across SAN, NAS, object storage, and cloud storage platforms.
  • Develop scalable storage strategies to support business growth, application modernization, and data-intensive workloads.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of storage technologies and vendors.
  • Architect solutions for backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and data retention.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, security, database, and application teams to ensure storage solutions meet business and technical requirements.
  • Optimize storage performance, capacity utilization, and cost efficiency.
  • Define storage standards, governance policies, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and industry regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and administrators.
  • Support migration initiatives involving data centers, cloud platforms, and storage modernization projects.
  • Create architecture documentation, roadmaps, and technical designs.
  • Troubleshoot complex storage-related issues and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Stay current on emerging storage technologies, cloud services, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise storage administration, infrastructure architecture, or systems engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience designing enterprise storage solutions.
  • Knowledge of HyperConverged storage platforms including:
    • Nutanix Unified Storage
    • Vmware VSAN
    • Microsoft Azure Local Storage
    • SAN technologies (Fibre Channel RoCE, iSCSI)
    • NAS platforms OnTAP(tm)
    • Object storage solutions
    • Data replication and disaster recovery
    • Backup and recovery technologies
  • Experience with cloud storage services such as:
    • Microsoft Azure Storage
    • AWS S3, EBS, EFS
    • Google Cloud Storage
  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Understanding of storage security, encryption, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, HPE, IBM, or similar enterprise storage platforms.
  • Cloud certifications (Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Architect).
  • Storage-related certifications such as NetApp NCDA/NCIE, Dell EMC Proven Professional, or VMware certifications.
  • Experience supporting AI, analytics, big data, or high-performance computing environments.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and automation practices.
  • Ability to travel to customers & partners across the United States
  • Demonstrated expertise in architecting and designing enterprise-scale Software Defined Storage solutions, including distributed file, block, and object storage platforms, to support AI, HPC, cloud-native workloads.
