At NS2 Mission, you'll help deliver advanced software capabilities on one of our prime Intelligence Community programs. As an Expert Software Developer, you'll lead the design and development of scalable applications, modern data services, and cloud-based solutions that directly support national security missions. This position will be on site in the Chantilly, VA area. Working within a collaborative Agile environment, you'll architect complex software solutions, develop modern data processing capabilities, and integrate enterprise applications using Python, Java, AWS, and distributed technologies. This is an opportunity to solve challenging engineering problems, influence technical direction, and build software that directly supports Intelligence Community missions. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and modernization of enterprise software applications using Python and Java. Architect and implement scalable RESTful APIs and backend services that enable secure, high-performance system integration. Design and develop large-scale data processing solutions using Apache Spark and distributed computing technologies. Build cloud-native applications and services within AWS, leveraging modern architecture and engineering best practices. Design and optimize data indexing, search, and analytics capabilities using Elasticsearch. Collaborate with systems architects, engineers, and mission stakeholders to translate operational requirements into innovative technical solutions. Lead software design discussions, code reviews, and technical planning activities while promoting engineering excellence across the development team. Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability through efficient coding practices, system tuning, and performance analysis. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevSecOps initiatives that improve software quality and deployment efficiency. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Approximately 10+ years of professional software development experience designing and delivering enterprise applications. Expert-level experience developing software using Python and Java. Experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs and distributed services. Experience building applications within AWS cloud environments. Experience developing large-scale data processing applications using Apache Spark. Experience designing and optimizing search solutions using Elasticsearch. Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design principles, and distributed systems. Experience working within Agile development environments and modern software development lifecycles. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing microservices-based architectures. Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or similar DevSecOps platforms. Experience with relational and NoSQL databases. Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar event-driven platforms. Position Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with an FSP Salary and Benefits Information: The salary range for this position is $183,259.00 to $237,433.00. The proposed range is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, location, and contractual considerations and may fall outside of the stated range.
