Description
Summary

Assembles parts to form complete units or subassemblies using specialized tools. Refers to technical drawings and written directions. Reassembles or reworks units as needed.



Job Duties and Responsibilities

Other tasks and duties may be required as directed.



  • Assemble manifold assemblies per blueprint requirements with minimal to no supervision.
  • Identify non-conforming parts and reworks per re-work instructions.
  • Assist in the training of and provide technical expertise to potential new Fuel Cell machinist Manual Utility Assembler.
  • Complete proper buy-off on all associated paperwork.
  • Follow daily dispatch reports and move jobs into ERP system.
  • Install internal components using arbor press and/or proper tooling.
  • Maintain accurate parts and part count for each job.
  • Seek and document lean process improvement ideas to improve the efficiency of the department.
  • Set-up and operate a manual lathe / Drill or grind operations in the production of Manifolds being manufactured.
  • Deburr parts at the workstation as per the work instructions.
  • Measure parts using standard inspection hand tools.
  • Maintain production dispatch report on time.
  • Inspect work from the machine to the applicable blueprint and aerospace specifications.
  • Maintain all hand tools in a clean and working condition, including work station.
  • Notify supervisor of equipment that requires repair or replacement. Notify supervisor for any needed supplies
  • Keep work station and test equipment clean and free of unnecessary debris.
  • Properly handle and dispose of chemicals used.
  • Maintain all safety standards and use safety equipment as required.
  • Be familiar with proper fixtures and tooling required to perform job function.
  • Understand basic hydraulic concepts, the function of gauges, and Crissair assemblies in the hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain 100% quality rating and less than .1% rejected components.
  • Must be willing to work on any projects and/or tasks asked by the Manager; including assisting other departments if required.
  • Able to swage parts according to work instructions and work order requirements.



Qualification Requirements

  • Education/Experience

    • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
    • 1-3 years of related experience or training


  • Language Skills

    • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write in simple correspondence.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.


  • Math Skills

    • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
    • Ability to perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


  • Reasoning Skills

    • Ability to understand and follow instructions conveyed through written, verbal, or diagrammatic means.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


  • Computer/ Office Skills


    • Basic windows/internet browser
    • ERP/Inventory

    • Strong Mechanical Aptitude
    • Manual lathe / Mill machine operation





Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical Demands

    • Frequent Activities: Sitting, standing, walking typing, handling objects, reaching, , talking/hearing, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs.

    • Occasional activities: Lifting/pushing/pulling up to 25lbs



    • Rare activities: Climbing/balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting/pushing/pulling heavy weights (50+ lbs)




  • Vision Requirements


    • Frequent: Close vision



    • Occasional: Color vision, computer work, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus


    • Rare: Distance vision, depth perception,


  • Work Environment


    • Frequent exposure: Mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, moderate-to-loud noise, vibration

    • Occasional exposure: loud-to-very loud noise.



    • Rare exposure: Outdoor weather conditions, high places, electrical shock, and very quiet or quiet noise levels.

Compensation and Benefits Offered

Actual base salary offered to the selected applicant will be based on their work location, qualifications, job related skills, relevant education, and training experience.

Base hourly rate range Minimum $21.00 - Maximum $26.00 Depending on experience. A shift differential is offered for night shift positions.
