Reporting to the Director - Freight Trading, the Sr Analyst Commercial Logistics Freight is responsible for all aspects related with the transportation of raw materials including but not limited to agricultural commodities in ocean going vessels chartered under different contract modalities i.e. Time Charter or Voyage Charter. Responsibilities range from the vessel's initial instructions, cargo stow-plan calculations, optimal routing, fuel consumption and replenishment planning to vessel's hire and freight payments, disputes and claims resolution as well as monitor all related port restrictions, delays, and regulations involved in the vessel's service. Main Accountabilities
- Communications
* Constant direct communication with the vessel's Captain providing guidance and instructions for each voyage segment. * Constant communication with ship owners, charterers, brokers, traders. * Direct communication with port agencies and service providers for all aspects related to the operation and activities of the vessel while at each port. * Supportive communication with the Trading & Logistics teams on each execution's particularities and requirements. * Communication with the trading team regarding changing port, canal, and fuel scenarios in order to guide optimal commercial decisions. * Close communication with the legal team, PnI and strike club representatives, when needed. * Constant communication and alignment with other bunge offices such as Geneva, Rotterdam and Singapore for cooperation on operational matters and know-how. - Execution
* Preparation of cargo stow-plan in line with Trading needs, and port/vessel restrictions and fuel replenishment planning for each of the voyages. * Preparation and follow up on vessel's hire and freight payments through to the finalization of each voyage. Maintain a healthy AP/AR balance with all counterparties. * Close follow up of voyage related disbursement accounts at each port to ensure accuracy. * Accurate and on time handling of legal matters protecting company's interests. * Understanding of the terms and conditions under the charter-party covering each of the chartered vessels. * Appointing and instructing agents, surveyors and port captains at load and discharge ports as the operation requires. * Timely physical bunker purchases and canal prebooking in line with changing market trends. - Monitoring & reporting
* Daily update of vessel's itinerary and tracking of profit & loss record in IMOS * Daily freight position update and reporting, entering/modifying cargo bookings and reconciliation with the trading cash position. * Daily monitoring of congestion trends at key ports, and canals. * Daily monitoring of physical bunker priceprices and availabilityties at key ports to the commercial program. * Timely payment of suppliers for services such as towage, fuel, weather routing, insurance, etc * Assist accounting teams in Geneva and India with all administrative and system requirements. * Monitor cargo handling during transit and at port. * Produce monthly KPIs reports and analysis.
Knowledge & Skills * Knowledge and experience on Veson IMOS Platform chartering and operations IT system, to track profits and loss and the like. * Understanding of weather routing report and platforms. * Familiarity using port disbursement costs platforms. * Preparing cargo stow-plan and bunkers calculations for each voyage in line with trading needs and port/vessel restrictions. * Applying knowledge of stability criteria for bulk cargoes and vessels. * Basic understanding of agriculture commodities and other dry bulk cargoes behavior and characteristics. * Understanding of fundamentals of market dynamics affecting the operation/economics, including but not limited to oil, grains, fleet positioning, etc. * Understanding and familiarity with the terms & conditions (clauses) included in a standard time and voyage charter-parties * Knowledge of the basic concepts of dry bulk cargoes, ship's physical characteristics, parts, design, and vessel's stability criteria. * Understanding, being aware and up to date of and awareness of the international regulations, conventions, agreements, codes, and developments of the shipping industry. * Basic understanding of laytime terms and calculations. * Comprehensive knowledge of the involved shipping documentation for carriage of bulk cargoes and its legal implications during loading and discharge. * Fluent conversational and writing skills in maritime terminology. * Ability to navigate a fast-changing environment along with fast decision making and proper risk assessment. * Composure under high pressure situations and ability to manage multiple assignments with constant focus on accuracy. * IT literate * Fluent in English * Fluent in Spanish Education & Experience * Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting/Finance, International Relations, Agricultural Economics or related field. * 6+ years of experience as a dry cargo operator dealing with Dry Bulk cargoes in Panamax and Handy sized vessels.
