We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Washington D.C. for a Lead Compliance Coordinator (Hybrid) on our Advocacy team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Washington, DC office, requiring 3 days a week in the office. 25 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20001-7400 USA

This role administers the AMA's lobbying compliance program, ensuring adherence
to the Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) through detailed coordination of compliance activities, reporting, and education.
Coordinates all functions of the Council on Legislation's meetings and
initiatives, aids with the Reference Committee process as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lobbying Compliance Administration

  • Administers and maintains the lobbying compliance program and its implementation plan to ensurerobust adherence to federal requirements.
  • Prepares compliance reports, disclosures, schedules, and documentation whileactively monitoring
    communication and developments related to federal lobbying laws and reporting
    requirements.
  • Files compliance reportsand obtains/documents appropriate approvals prior to filing.
  • Develops and
    delivers educational sessions on LDA compliance for AMA staff and facilitates
    internal communications to strengthen organization-wide compliance.
  • Trains all new lobbyists and registers each new
    lobbyist with the House and Senate.
  • Provides
    guidance to lobbyists, external Federation staff, and AMA consultants regarding filings of required
    disclosure reports and general LDA questions.
  • Responds to questionsfrom external Federation staff and AMA consultants regarding general LDA questions.
  • Conducts independent outreach to House, Senate, and Administration ethics offices as necessary
    to support compliance with applicable LDA and gift rules requirements.
  • Maintains
    and enhances compliance resources, forms, and documentation to support
    compliance efforts.
Council MeetingCoordination and Support
  • Coordinates with the Secretary of the Council on Legislation and the Division
    Director.
  • Plans and
    coordinates meetings and other
    activities associated with the Council including providing Council Members, Division staff, and ARC staff with information for meetings, conference calls, and other legislative and regulatory requests.
  • Coordinates the development, assembly, and distribution of Council workbooks/PDFs.
  • Coordinates with Meeting Servicesstaff in obtaining hotel reservations for Council Membersand staff, and plans Council dinners.
  • Maintains CouncilMembership records and
    facilitates communication with Council Membersand Board Officestaff as necessary, as well as distribution of required materials.
  • Prepares budgetinformation for use in Councilmeeting and budget planning.
  • Aids in the administration of Council workgroups
    and helps to undertake projects for the Council including, but not limited to,
    tracking relevant legislation, taking and distributing meeting notes,
    undertaking research related to Council projects as needed, and helping to
    format, standardize, and finalize document creation.

Reference Committee Support

  • Supports the Secretary for
    Reference Committee B in coordinating committee activities and operations.
  • Helps with the tracking,
    organization, and creation of materials including talking points, resolution
    charts, background information and more for the Reference Committee.
  • Supports the development of the
    Reference Committee reports before and during the House of Delegates meetings,
    including attending the House of Delegates meetings twice a year.
  • Facilitates communication with
    the Reference Committee, Council on Legislation Members, Division staff, and
    ARC, about the Reference Committee process.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.

  2. 5+ years of experience supporting public policy, compliance administration, board or council activities, or related functions.

  3. Demonstrated knowledge of the federal legislative and regulatory process.

  4. Strong writing and analytical skills. Ability to conceptualize issues, synthesize data / information and develop reports that require limited review.

  5. Exceptional communications skills, including the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner, and to generate meaningful dialogue on key issues.

  6. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and execute multiple, concurrent projects, prioritize work assignments, and maintain a budget; ability to handle ambiguity and adapt effectively to changing circumstances.

  7. Highly organized, efficient, and detail-oriented; Critical thinking skills required.

  8. Curiosity in varied healthcare public policy issues.

  9. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently.

  10. Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional and personable demeanor when representing the AMA.

  11. Some travel required.

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $90,931 - $120,244. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
