This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite on campus and remote.

DESCRIPTION

The Department of Anesthesiology employs over 200 academic and staff personnel and has an annual operating budget of $40 million in annualized resources between Practice Plan Revenues, VAMC funding, Hospital and Medical Group Funding, UC Foundation, Research Sources and School of Medicine Funds. There are over 60 clinical faculty, 12 Ph.D, faculty and post docs, 36 residents, 8 clinical fellows, 27 Certified Nurse Anesthetists, 1 Physician Assistant and four bargaining units represented. The Department provides Clinical Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Services at Hillcrest, Thornton, Shiley, Children's and the VAMC. The Department operates a Pain Clinic at Perlman. The Department's research programs include bench and clinical research programs located at the VAMC, MTF, CTF, Hillcrest, Thornton and Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine.

Under general direction, the Project Manager applies wide-ranging experience to manage projects, up to and including the most complex with campuswide, medical center or Office of the President, institution-wide and / or multi-institutional impact. Leads projects with little or no campus, medical center or Office of the President precedent where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Considered a subject matter expert on campus, medical center or Office of the President and often recognized as an expert externally in the industry. Influences and guides the project management methods and processes used in campus, medical center or Office of the President projects.

This position will be dedicated to ensuring the successful execution of a complex, fast-paced multi-year sponsored research program involving a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional team spanning investigators with expertise in healthcare delivery, computer science, cybersecurity, and economics. This position will be responsible both for the day-to-day coordination of a team of dozens consisting of investigators, researchers, and graduate students as well as the high-level strategic execution of the program roadmap to guarantee on-time deliverables and successful achievement of research milestones. The ideal candidate for this position will be extremely motivated, possess an outstanding level of attention to detail, have a well-established track record of success in similar endeavors, and references who can speak to the initiative and dedication they possess. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Eleven (11) years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus seven (7) years of related experience.

  • Requires knowledge of project management principles, theories, and concepts.

  • Requires ability to assess campus, medical center or Office of the President needs for information technology products and design services to meet those needs.

  • Working knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives.

  • Demonstrated capacity to anticipate obstacles and plan for contingencies. Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to determine relevance and prioritize tasks. Demonstrated initiative to proactively advance workstreams with minimal input from principal investigators.

  • Demonstrated effective writing skills. Ability to assemble information from multiple sources, unify voice, presentation, and formatting, and deliver high quality scientific reports.

  • Broad knowledge of technology-related initiatives and an understanding of impact to the organization of such initiatives.

  • Proven leadership ability. Effective problem solving skills. Demonstrated ability to put forth persuasive arguments.

  • Demonstrated competency in selecting and implementing project management methods and techniques. Effective skill at tracking effort and project progress. Demonstrated strong conceptual and planning skills to analyze projects of broad and diverse scope. Demonstrated expert organization and project management skills. Understands the cost impact of projects, project tracking tools and metrics.

  • Experienced mentor and leader of teams with experience leading a team of technology professionals.

  • Advanced knowledge of all aspects of computing and communications including hardware infrastructure, networking, software, operations and disaster recovery.

  • Has a thorough understanding of how programs relate to other business strategies and initiatives. Demonstrated ability to integrate critical information across disciplines.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with executive-level management on a regular basis.

  • Experience analyzing highly complex projects with broad impact to the institution. Demonstrated ability to manage project progress within time and budget constraints.

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner in order to achieve results that are significant in scope.

PREFERERED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Professional certification preferred.

  • Experience successfully project managing the execution of aggressive milestone based 'moon-shot' ARPA initiatives.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $132,600 - $259,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $63.51 - $124.43

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
