Job Summary
The Education Abroad Advisor is responsible for promoting education abroad programs to students and stakeholders, advising and supporting students before, during, and after their study abroad experience, and administering select Drexel education abroad programs in select regions of the world. Regional responsibility includes France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, and Latin America, though ultimately will be based upon the needs of the Education Abroad team.
The Education Abroad Advisor also manages and advises faculty and students on non-credit experiences abroad (NCEAs), which include international service learning, research, athletics, and conferences. The advisor provides guidance on the NCEA application process, facilitates group info sessions and pre-departure support.
The Education Abroad Advisor is responsible for the annual review of regional responsibility program brochures and initial creation of new brochures in collaboration with the Associate Director.
The advisor has additional administrative duties including, but is not limited to the following:
- Online pre-departure orientation
- Being the primary liaison with Drexel's Enrollment Management and Student Success office and taking the lead on various events, including accepted student days, welcome week, etc.
- Curriculum integration
- Additional projects to contribute to the operations of the office will be assigned according to office needs
- Occasional nights and weekends required
- Domestic and international travel may be required
Essential Functions
- Recruiting and advising students on study abroad programs in assigned regions of the world
- Advising students and faculty through the non-credit experience abroad approval process
- Communicating with various education abroad stakeholders including administrative and academic departments across campus as well as foreign contacts
- Attending relevant university events and making presentations pertaining to their portfolio of education abroad opportunities as well as education abroad in general
- Developing marketing campaigns, events, and sessions to recruit students
- Attending various regional and national conferences and represent Drexel Global at various university events
- Managing and developing content for the outbound pre-departure orientation
- Managing curriculum integration efforts in assigned academic area
- Participating in site visits in support of their program portfolio
- Providing coverage when other staff members are out of the office
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in international education, preferably education abroad
- Must be a self-starter and flexibility
- Ability to set goals and complete projects with a high degree of independence
- Ability to communicate persuasively, attention to detail, and ability to handle several tasks at once are essential for this job
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Experience living, working, and/or studying abroad, preferably in a French or Spanish speaking location
- Ability to speak another language
- Knowledge of educational systems of other countries
- Experience with Banner, MS Office suite, and/or Terra Dotta Software

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ 45,330.00 to $ 68,000.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
