Job Description

Salary range: $93,825 to $117, 275 per year.

Purpose of Position:

The Safety Supervisor serves as the onsite safety leader and primary subject matter expert for occupational health and safety within a unionized Ready-to-Eat poultry further processing facility. Although the position has no direct reports, it serves as the single point of accountability for the effectiveness of the site safety management system and the execution of all plant safety initiatives. The position partners with Operations, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Human Resources, Occupational Health, Engineering, and Union leadership to drive regulatory compliance, injury prevention, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Maintain and administer key safety programs, including LOTO, Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Machine Guarding, Respiratory Protection, PPE, Powered Industrial Trucks, and Emergency Action Plans.
  • Ensure safety policies, procedures, records, and training documentation remain current and audit-ready.
  • Support regulatory inspections, customer audits, and internal compliance reviews.


  • Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, employee engagement, safety observations, and recognition programs.
  • Mentor supervisors and employees on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and accountability.
  • Respond promptly to employee safety concerns and drive corrective actions.


  • Conduct routine production floor inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments in production, warehouse, maintenance, and sanitation areas.
  • Lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for new or modified tasks and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with PPE, sanitation, chemical handling, and workplace safety requirements.


  • Investigate injuries, first aids, near misses, and property damage incidents using root cause analysis.
  • Develop, track, and verify corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze trends and present recommendations to leadership to reduce workplace risk.


  • Maintain emergency action plans and coordinate evacuation drills and emergency response activities.
  • Partner with local emergency responders as needed.
  • Lead Safety Committee meetings, maintain minutes, and track action items to completion.


  • Support budgeting for PPE, safety equipment, and program needs.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
* Minimum five years of manufacturing safety experience.
* Knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA requirements.
* Strong investigation, training, communication, and leadership skills.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
Preferred Qualifications & Certifications
* Food manufacturing, poultry processing, RTE production, and union environment experience.
* OSHA 30-Hour General Industry.
* ASP, CSP, or OHST Certification.
* First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
