Job Description

Responsibilities

The X-Ray Technician will be performing calibrations, Nondestructive Tests (NDT), and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record results. Level II Technicians are qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable ASME codes, standards, and specifications. Level II Technicians are thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method of NDT being used and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance. The facility is equipped with CR X-Ray equipment.

  • Reads prints and locates piece parts.

  • Sets up operational parameters on the welding machine and monitor. Make corrections as needed.

  • Completes first article inspection before starting run.

  • Monitor the product quality using required gages and inspection criteria.

  • Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.

  • Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.

  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.

  • Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters and visual indicators.

  • Organize and report test results.

  • Operation of lifting devices as needed.

  • Looks for opportunity to get involved in safety, environmental, process changes and overall improvement efforts.

  • Follows all EHS guidelines and applicable procedures.

  • Read, understand, and follow the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and EHS Work Instructions.

  • Report any unsafe conditions or incidents in a timely manner to their supervisor or any member of management.

  • Shut down process if unsafe.

  • Follow proper machine shutdown procedures.

  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must attend, complete, and implement required in-house training.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, tape measures, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must be willing to obtain Lvl II X-Ray certification (in-house certification.)
