Summary The Pharmacy Technician supports clinical pharmacists in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications by serving as a key liaison between patients, providers, pharmacies, and insurance companies. Working under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the pharmacy technician plays an important role in delivering medication and pharmaceutical care in communities that are most in need. This includes developing close relationships with patients in communities we serve and assisting the pharmacists in accurately preparing and delivering prescription medication. The technician ensures compliance with PCHC policies, regulatory standards, and Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board requirements. Responsibilities Service - These duties focus on direct support, coordination, and navigation of health and community services to help patients access the care and resources they need. Always maintains friendly and helpful attitude when dealing with customers. Always maintains professional working relationships with the pharmacy personnel, physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel. Understands that the requirements of working in a pharmacy are varied and may change as demands on the department change. Empowerment - These responsibilities center on providing direct support in medication management, coordinating with pharmacists and healthcare providers, and assisting patients in accessing prescriptions and related healthcare resources. Ability to become a subject matter expert (SME) in all pharmacy-related workflows, policies, and procedures Accurate medication name pronunciation. Assist in developing resources and educational material for various populations. Compassion - Recognizing areas requiring relief with empathy and care for others. Utilizes daily huddles to promote communication and efficient clinic flow. Establishes a compassionate environment by ensuring staff adhere to the organization's professional standards. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing. Quality - Pursuing excellence in all endeavors. Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Organizes medications for pharmacists to dispense by profiling prescriptions; preparing labels and calculating quantities Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and ordering when needed KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS In-depth understanding of HIPPA and patient confidentiality. Responsible, self-starter, and confident in building and executing a new project. Ability to relate well to people of various ages and from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education equivalent required LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech Active: current pharmacy technician license in good standing in Wisconsin required At least 2 years with retail pharmacy technician related experience, preferred 340B experience preferred Prior authorization review processes and Epic knowledge preferred Basic computer skills and experience in data entry using Excel, Access or equivalent computer background. It is mandatory that all employees, employed providers and volunteers are vaccinated. All hired candidates must submit proof of vaccination prior to their orientation.
