What You'll Do

- Execute standardized network validation activities on hyperscale data center infrastructure in accordance with customer specifications, project standards, and E2 Optics Standard Operating Procedures.
- Perform physical validation of Front-End Network (FENW) infrastructure including structured cabling systems, patch panels, fiber enclosures, network cabinets, equipment racks, pathways, and network hardware.
- Verify installation quality by inspecting cable routing, cable management, bend radius, labeling, connector orientation, patching accuracy, hardware installation, and overall workmanship.
- Validate activation readiness by confirming:
- Perform basic troubleshooting activities using established troubleshooting procedures and approved customer workflows.
- Utilize customer-approved software applications including FIM, CableGuy, UTP, and other applicable customer systems to review assignments, update tickets, document findings, and communicate status.
- Perform guided continuity verification utilizing Visual Fault Locators (VFL) and other approved testing equipment under the direction of qualified personnel.
- Assist higher-level Network Specialists in performing fiber optic inspections using digital fiber inspection scopes while developing competency in connector cleanliness evaluation in accordance with IEC 61300-3-35 standards.
- Perform approved fiber cleaning procedures utilizing customer-approved cleaning methods and materials while following manufacturer recommendations and established cleaning standards.
- Develop a foundational understanding of network testing methodologies including:
- Assist in validating network hardware including chassis, line cards, transceivers, fabric modules, and associated network components without performing unauthorized configuration changes.
- Accurately document all inspection findings, observations, deficiencies, corrective actions, and ticket updates within customer-required documentation systems.
- Generate complete, accurate, and timely documentation supporting audit completion, validation activities, and provisioning readiness.
- Perform limited corrective actions within approved authorization boundaries including reseating connectors, correcting labeling discrepancies, and other basic remediation activities as directed by higher-level personnel.
- Recognize abnormal testing results, installation deficiencies, damaged infrastructure, documentation discrepancies, or network abnormalities and promptly escalate in accordance with established escalation procedures.
- Escalate unresolved issues to a Hyperscale Network Specialist II or III within 15 to 20 minutes when troubleshooting exceeds established Level I authority or when directed by customer procedures.
- Support commissioning, turnover, and customer acceptance activities by ensuring assigned work areas remain organized, documented, and inspection ready.
- Participate in on-the-job training, classroom instruction, manufacturer training, customer certification programs, and continuous professional development activities to expand technical competency.
- Maintain proper care, organization, calibration awareness, and accountability for assigned tools, testing equipment, PPE, and customer assets.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas that support safe operations, efficient production, and customer expectations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of project objectives and customer requirements.
- Travel: The individual in this role should be able and willing to travel as required by E2 Optics.
What We Are Looking For
Education
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- OSHA 10 certification required within the first two (2) weeks of employment or as required by project specifications.
- Completion of E2 Optics onboarding and customer-specific orientation prior to performing field activities.
- Successful completion of customer-required training and system access requirements prior to independently performing audit activities.
Experience
- 0-2 years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, low voltage systems, data center construction, network infrastructure, mission critical construction, or related technical field.
- Previous experience working in a data center or mission critical environment is preferred but not required.
- Exposure to fiber optic and copper cabling systems, testing equipment, or network infrastructure is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to safely work in active construction environments while following established procedures and quality standards.

- Manufacturer training from CommScope, Corning, Panduit, Leviton, Siemon, or equivalent
- Customer-approved onboarding and qualification programs (Meta LevelUp or equivalent where applicable)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Technical Knowledge
- Basic understanding of structured cabling systems including copper and fiber optic infrastructure.
- Basic understanding of hyperscale data center environments and network infrastructure.
- Foundational understanding of Front-End Network (FENW) architecture and network connectivity.
- Basic knowledge of industry installation standards including BICSI and ANSI/TIA practices.
- Familiarity with fiber optic connector types including LC, MPO/MTP, MMC, and common copper connectivity.
- Basic understanding of cable routing, labeling, cable management, and pathway systems.
- Awareness of customer activation readiness requirements.
Testing & Diagnostic Skills
- Ability to perform basic Visual Fault Locator (VFL) continuity verification.
- Basic understanding of Optical Loss Test Set (OLTS) and Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing concepts.
- Awareness of Permanent Link testing methodology.
- Basic understanding of loss budget concepts and acceptable testing practices.
- Ability to inspect fiber optic connectors using approved digital inspection equipment under guidance.
- Ability to perform approved fiber cleaning procedures following established standards.
Documentation & Systems
- Ability to accurately document audit findings within customer ticketing systems.
- Strong attention to detail when recording deficiencies, corrective actions, and validation activities.
- Basic proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Ability to navigate customer software platforms such as FIM, CableGuy, UTP, or equivalent project management systems.
- Ability to generate complete, accurate, and timely documentation supporting provisioning readiness.
Problem Solving
- Ability to recognize installation deficiencies and basic network issues.
- Ability to follow standardized troubleshooting procedures.
- Ability to distinguish between issues that can be resolved independently and those requiring escalation.
- Ability to escalate unresolved issues within established timelines.
- Willingness to learn advanced troubleshooting techniques from senior Network Specialists.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office and construction environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This role requires sitting, use of hands and arms, verbal communication, and occasional physical movement such as stooping or kneeling. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet. Must be able to operate equipment such as scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, and UTVs (buggies) if required to do so. The employee may also be required to work in tight and confined spaces.
