The Senior Civil Engineer, General, with the Fish and Boat Commission plays an important part in shaping safe and dependable facilities across the state. You will work collaboratively to maintain and enhance public fishing and boating facilities owned and managed by the Fish & Boat Commission, playing a key role in advancing the Commission's mission to protect, conserve, and improve the Commonwealth's aquatic resources while expanding high-quality fishing and boating opportunities. This position combines office responsibilities with field work at lakes and access areas, with much of the work performed outdoors in diverse and scenic locations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on planning, designing, inspecting, and managing civil engineering projects that support Fish and Boat Commission facilities. It involves leading complex work that ensures structures remain safe, efficient, and reliable. As a Senior Civil Engineer, General, you will perform the following duties:
- Project Planning: Conduct engineering designs and calculations for structures, systems, and facilities across Commission properties
- Facility Assessment: Evaluate the condition of buildings, roads, dams, and hatchery systems to identify repair or replacement needs
- Construction Oversight: Monitor project progress, inspect work sites, and verify that construction follows required plans and specifications
- Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and secure permits and approvals needed for facility development and renovation
- Technical Support: Provide guidance to agency staff, respond to public concerns, and develop reports based on engineering investigations

- Note: $2,500 paid at time of hire to cover the cost of an existing Professional Engineering (PE) Certificate, and another $2,500 paid every time this Certificate is renewed.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- There may be rare instances when the incumbent must address emergencies outside work hours.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 50% of the time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bellefonte.. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; or
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
- Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position also requires possession of an Engineer-in-Training certificate OR a Professional Engineer license issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration. Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
