DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role provides confidential administrative support to the agency director and assists staff with daily operational needs. It also involves supervising clerical staff, coordinating workloads, and managing personnel records. As an Administrative Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Clerical Oversight: Supervise clerical staff and coordinate daily work assignments
  • Administrative Support: Assist the director and staff with confidential administrative tasks
  • Personnel Coordination: Work with human resources on hiring actions, pay changes, and attendance records
  • Record Management: Maintain confidential personnel files and ensure accurate documentation
  • Agency Liaison: Communicate with county and state departments regarding purchasing, payroll, and administrative needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a staff assistant to an administrative officer or as a technician in a staff service of a large organization; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna County. If no eligible candidates who live within Lackawanna County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
