A typical day for a Telemetry Technician may include:

  • Conducting continuous cardiac monitoring for patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics, ensuring constant vigilance over ECG rhythm changes
  • Preparing patients for cardiac monitoring using proper skin preparation and precise electrode placement techniques
  • Performing 12-lead EKGs and interpreting cardiac rhythms accurately to assist physicians and nurses with diagnostic data and intervention planning
  • Managing telemetry devices efficiently, including the careful removal of transmitters when patients leave the unit for procedures and replacing them upon return
  • Completing meticulous documentation on telemetry mount sheets during each shift to maintain accurate patient charts
  • Maintaining an accurate, organized inventory of telemetry transmitters and all other vital monitoring equipment on the unit
  • Making regular rounds every two hours, and as necessary, to verify patient monitoring status and ensure equipment functionality
  • Replenishing monitoring supplies at the end of each shift to ensure continuous readiness for the oncoming team
  • Utilizing an understanding of growth and development principles to recognize and meet each patient's age-specific needs
  • Contributing to a collaborative team environment where professionalism, communication, and patient-centered care are shared priorities

  • This position offers a part-time schedule on the Night Shift (22.5 hours per week), allowing you to contribute to critical overnight patient safety while maintaining your daytime schedule.
  • You hold a High School Diploma or GED, have successfully completed a formal dysrhythmia course, and possess a demonstrated 12-lead ECG competency.
  • You hold a current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Previous clinical or patient care experience is preferred, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
