Job Summary
We are seeking a Financial Analyst for a fixed-term, project-focused position supporting the new UCDH CA Tower. This is a full-time position with an anticipated end date on or before December 31, 2030, aligning with the projected completion of the CA Tower project. Employment in this position is directly tied to the lifecycle of the CA Tower project and is expected to conclude upon the project's completion.
This financial analyst position is a member of the IT Finance team leading financial management and business planning & analysis for strategic initiatives for the Information Technology division specifically surrounding the CA Tower project. Under the general guidance of the Finance Manager, the financial analyst will lead budgetary and financial functions for the CA Tower project and impacted IT departments to assist in effective management. This position will exercise initiative, originality, and judgment in applying established principles and practices to new and unusual problems and must work collaboratively with peers and customers. Ensure that appropriate accounting and internal controls are maintained, prepare and establish budgets, organize resources according to budgetary plans, prepare both routine and ad hoc financial reports using data from the general ledger and departmental or project budget, and forecast revenue and expenses. - Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, or related field or equivalent experience / training
- Strong cross-functional experience in finance, accounting, and technology.
- Advanced professional communication skills, including experience preparing and delivering presentation materials for variety of audiences including executive stakeholders, internal and external audiences, client groups, and management.
- Verbal communication skills that are adequate to relay appropriate information to various levels of management.
- Ability to work independently, taking responsibility for projects with input on objectives with minimal supervision.
- 5 years experience preparing concise reports and action memos
- 5 years experience in the design of report formats, extraction of data and development of financial and statistical reports.
- 5 years experience with MS Excel, use of data analysis functions, ability to create standard and ad hoc reports, presentations, charts, and graphs using advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel such as linked spreadsheets, SUMIFS, VLOOKUPS, nested IF statements, and VBA.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, work under pressure, successfully meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of competence, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Experience providing financial and complex analysis for a large capital construction project within an IT department.
- Experience applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to various department business scenarios and communicating the impacts to a non-accounting audience.
- Knowledge of SQL preferred or other programming languages such as PowerQuery.
- Experience with Tableau, PowerBI or other BI tools.

- Advanced degree (master's or higher) in computer science, information systems, educational technology, health informatics, business administration, or a related field is strongly preferred. A combination of education and extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.

- Experience working with senior-level customers and peer executives, such as CFO, CIO.
- Experience in Construction and IT division highly preferred.
- Experience in a large integrated or academic health system preferred.
- Experience with business analysis concepts such as preparing business requirement documentation, workflow diagrams, etc.
- Experiencing using advanced features of SharePoint or other integrated collaboration tools preferred.
